About this deal

The chords above are expressed in roman numerals. The “7” next to the roman numerals represent that the chord is a dominant 7th chord. The first four measures of the 12-bar blues are played over the tonic chord I7. This means, if we were playing in the key of A, our I7 chord would be A7, if we were playing in key of D, our I7 chord would be D7, and so on. It’s easy to see that 12 bar blues forms and structures are built around 12 bars in total. Now, each bar is often broken down into quarter notes where the strumming pattern we mentioned above. However, you need to consider a couple of factors before buying, two of which are: The Size and the Pricing. Let’s talk about the size first: The Soprano, Concert, Tenor, and Baritone. Size

To get a detailed view of the different types of ukuleles and the differences between them, you can refer to this article. How is the Ukulele different from Guitar? When it comes to the Priceof the Ukulele, a rule of thumb is that the bigger the instrument gets, the pricier it becomes. Therefore, the Soprano being the smallest of the lot is usually priced the least, whereas, the Baritone (the biggest size) is sold at a higher price point. To play a bar of A7, you would strum down, down, up down, up. Repeat that four times for the bars of A7, move on to playing that pattern twice on D7, and so forth. At GAK, we supply a variety of ukulele types, including Soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone ukuleles, so you’re bound to find the one that’s perfect for you. It is the biggest size amongst all. Pricing The first variation is in the first four bars. To break up the monotony of the I7, we can use a IV7 chord in the second measure. Concert- Concert has typically 15-20 frets. It’s slightly bigger than Soprano in size. It gives a fuller sound as compared to its younger sibling, Soprano. Concert is ideal for beginners’ as it’s not too big or small. It’s suitable for all travel adventures and produces a very solid sound. An instrument to inspire beginners of all ages. The Gear4music Ukulele is fun, portable and easy to play. With a quality build to stand the test of time, it will hold your interest throughout hours of play and practice.

For example, a normal C chord is made by simply holding down the A string at the third fret. The g, C, and E strings are simply strummed. There are six basic blues sets of blues chords, those in the key of C, in the key of D, in the key of E, in the key of F, in the key of G, and finally, chords in the key of A. For a third variation, you can just switch from A (2100) to A7 (0100) – that can sound good immediately before you change to the D7. The ukulele as we know it took shape in Hawaii, derived from an instrument called a machete that was passed on by Portuguese immigrants. It’s commonly found with four nylon strings and smaller body than the acoustic guitar. Soprano- Soprano is the smallest among the four sizes. It has the classic size. Sopranos have 12-15 frets and the smallest body. It is ideal for kids, travel due to its small size hence portable, and for players with small hands. If you are playing A (2100) with your index and middle fingers, your ring finger is probably already hovering over the open E string, so let’s put it to use. As you strum A again and again, drop your ring finger down onto the E string at the 2 nd fret, and then lift it straight off. You might already know the chord which appears for a fraction of a second as F#m (2120) but just like the previous lesson, we are not going to worry about the theory – just hear the way it sounds. Now let’s look at each of those chords and see what we can do to them. All of the ideas below are included in the video if you want to see & hear them in action. To make a blues C chord, or the C7 chord, you would hold down the first fret of the A string, and play the other 3 chords in the open position. That are four common varieties: soprano, concert, tenor and baritone. These vary in terms of size, scale length and tuning. Nowadays, some manufacturers even produce guitar-ukulele and bass-ukulele hybrids, designed to more accessible to contemporary players. So that gives you ways to play around with all of the chords in a 12 bar blues in A. The thing to remember is not to do all of the variations all of the time. If you do that, they stop being variations, and become the norm again. Keep mixing it up, keep it interesting. 12 Bar Blues in C

We offer a wide selection of ukuleles across a range of popular brands, including Fender and Epiphone, who incorporate their classic guitar designs into stylish takes on the compact folk instrument. Other brands like Cordoba specialise in building high-quality ukes, while some series like the Yellow Submarine Ukuleles have a bright, quirky appearance and are ideal for beginners wanting a groovy-looking uke. The standard variation of the 12 bar blues scale in C follows the sequence has the ukulele blues chords of C7, F, and G7 normally Incorporated. A good progression to start with is to play the C7 chord for 4 bars, 2 bars of the F chord, 2 bars of the C7 chord, one bar of the G7, a bar of F, and 2 bars of C7. Both the guitar and the ukulele are stringed instruments. Guitars are bigger in size. A standard guitar has six strings whereas a ukulele has four strings. The Fretboard on the ukulele is way thinner and shorter than the guitar and therefore, it makes it way easier to manage for people with smaller hands. Guitars can be challenging to learn for beginners’.Most commonly, the way to transform ordinary chords into blues chords is to add a 7 note. The 7th’s give the chord a slightly different sound that has been widely used and associated with the blues genre. Now let’s try something similar in a different key – let’s look at a 12 bar blues in C. That’s the same chord sequence as above, but with C,F,G instead of A,D,E.

and in the video I play it through plain and simple, using the chords A = 2100, D7 = 2020, and E7 = 1202. Changing E7 is a bit of a stretch, but while you are playing 1202, there is just your little finger left – try to reach the 4 th fret on the A string. You just need to touch it down for a fraction and then off again. And if you can’t reach, no matter – E7 isn’t there for very long anyway!Moving on to the F chord, if you play F7 (2313) then you will struggle to find a spare finger to drop onto a string. I have found there is more scope for varying things if you start with F (2010) and then use your ring finger on the C string, 2 nd& 3 rd frets again (2210 & 2310), much the same as it did for the A & D7 chords above.
