About this deal

Certainly, there are many kinds of bird seed catchers on the market. Some are cost-effective, while others might break after a few weeks. We got so tired of pulling the weeds from under the bird feeder my hubby got creative at our last house and came up with a fantastic solution to the bird seed/weed/mess under the feeder. Have in mind that both seed catchers and bird feeders come in a variety of designs and sizes. And the most typical shape is a circle, with a few rectangles. However, birds can perch beautifully on circle trays while they dine and unwind with their bottoms outside. Birds messing seeds below our bird feeders is just a fact of life. Maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for our feathered friends is a responsibility that goes hand in hand with the enjoyment we get from these little visitors. Using bird seed catchers for outdoor bird feeders offers a simple and effective solution that will save you money in the long run.

Bird seed catchers keep bird seed off the ground where unwelcome visitors like rats can reach them. Birds are delicate creatures and because of that, they are prone to illnesses and digestive problems. When the bird seed catcher is not properly cleaned, most of these seeds tend to sprout, accumulate as mold and cause bacteria or fungal infections.

Welcome to Really Wild Bird Food!

To help attract the birds, we’re planning to add a small butterfly/bird garden, a new bubbling water fountain, and a couple of bird feeders to the area just outside my bedroom window. The bird feeders are already up, and hubby will be working on my fountain this weekend. ( similar to this one, but 3 tiered.) Hopefully, we will get the bed and bird/butterfly-attracting plants in the ground soon. How to Keep the Bird Feeder Area Weed Free Bird seed catchers act a little bit like platform bird feeders . The seeds that have fallen into bird feeder seed catchers can still be eaten and enjoyed by songbirds, instead of being wasted, which keeps the birds well fed and saves you money at the end of the day. You already know that a good bird seed catcher is a great method to maintain the health of your garden and yard while also luring more birds.

The reason is that although being absurdly inexpensive, these low-quality bird seed catchers will make you need to visit the store more frequently. If the amount of seed you wish to catch is large, it is advisable to use a tray with a broader diameter. And if you are trying to entice bigger birds, a larger bird seed catcher is what you need. Firstly the smaller birds seem reluctant now to use the lower perches/ports on the feeder now - perhaps they feel more vulnerable with the tray attached. All the birds love this millet, but it’s the messy one, and these seeds do germinate and grow like crazy. To keep the area under the feeder with the white seed clean, Hubby used a large water heater pan, painted it to match the ground cover, and placed it under the messy feeder to catch all the spilled seed. Didn’t winter this year seem like it was never going to end? (We even lost a significant amount of our new landscape/plants due to a very late deep freeze – ugh!)

Don't miss any more posts!

I bought this to attach to the bottom of the seed feeder to catch the bits of seeds the finches, tits and sparrows drop. It fits well and catches quite a lot. A “secret project” we’ve been working on is that we are on a mission to lure some of the colorful birds from our neighbor’s bird feeders over to ours! (Shhh… don’t tell.)
