About this deal

It’s attractive, I’ll give it that. Call me easy, but the coconut sprinkles add an element of luxe which I quite like. There’s also a pleasant coconut scent which is extra inviting.

I was the least excited to try this one because the flavor doesn’t sound that exciting. I’m not typically a big peanut gal, so I didn’t have high expectations. I tried Chocolate Dough first because this flavor was the most appealing to me (who can pass up a good chocolate option? Not me!) It tastes like a mixture of chocolate cake and a candy bar. It’s kind of like a Crunch bar because of the crunchy chocolate pieces on top (in protein bar form, of course…) Also, the thin strip of caramel hardly provides any real flavor. Uhg, I feel like I wasted money, but at the same time, I’m glad I finally just tried it out for myself. Similarly, Clif Bar was created in 1992 by a cyclist and marketed to outdoor adventurers. It, too, eventually birthed a popular line of higher-protein (20 g.) bars (named Builders) for those more focused on reps than miles. Tiger’s Milk, Power Bar, and Clif Bar were often your only options in health food stores until the mid-’90s, when bars targeted specifically to bodybuilders began impacting the market. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

When Fulfil discontinued the ‘ Lemon Zinger’ I was more than a little bitter (pun fully intended). Although Barebell’s attempt isn’t quite as good, it’s certainly not bad. It’s not bad at all. Barebells has somehow figured out how to capture the texture you want in a candy bar, while still providing delicious flavor AND very favorable nutrition facts. I really like the cashew pieces on this one – they add some crunch and are a refreshing change from the crispies you find on pretty much every protein bar these days.

Nutrition facts– 190-200 calories/bar. 7-8g fat. 50-105mg sodium. 19-20g carbs. 3-4g fiber. 1-2g sugar. 13-14g sugar alcohols. 20g protein.

Methodology: How We Picked the Best Protein Bars of 2023

The white chocolate coating is lovely, but it’s still so thin that the almond pieces are still essentially naked, but the almond pieces themselves are a better choice than the go-to crispies of other brands. The core is soft with a slight chew and, although I’ve literally just shaded them, I do like the crispies in there for the subtle crunch. This protein bar is good enough that even if every other flavor of Barebells protein bars was extremely average, I would still consider them the best protein bar on the market. Anyway, at time of writing, Barebells protein bars come in nine flavours, which you can skip to using the links below: This review is in no way sponsored by Barebells or biased in any way. I’m about to rave about these protein bars, so I felt it necessary to preface this review by saying that. It’s quite simple in its execution, but this bar nevertheless has an essence of luxe. Definitely not as good as the Salty Peanut, but it’s up there with Barebells’ bests. Mint Dark Chocolate (6/10)
