About this deal

The bass has slow decay, which won’t be too much of an issue had it not been the general lack of texture in the bass response. I do not hear and lushness of velvet thickness to the notes as they are presented to me, regardless of what source produce or amp I am paired with. It consists of many thin wire strands, individually insulated and twisted or woven together, following one of several carefully prescribed patterns often involving several levels (groups of twisted wires are twisted together, etc. Testing the soundtrack “Cornfield Chase“ from the movie Interstellar which showcases the brilliant use of church organ by Hans Zimmer to depict the feeling of scale and grandeur is reproduced by Starfields exceptionally well and immediately we were shocked to hear the natural reproduction of the instrument.

Rather than the IEMs demanding your attention, the music takes center stage and is the real ‘star’ (ahem). Both sets aren’t far apart when it comes to resolution although the Etymotic are ultimately a bit ahead, which is especially audible in the lows in very fast and demanding scenarios where the Starfield just sound softer, slower and lose control earlier. This for me is an issue because sometimes older Jazz recordings have a hiss in the background, but thankfully, the Starfield doesn’t exaggerate that and bring it out into my eyeballs, full force. Thankfully, as far as I'm aware, Moondrop IEMs are generally tuned the Harman target, which means there's a bit of bass emphasis and it has a bit more of a clockwise tilted frequency response (think more relaxed in the treble). The seam isn’t perfectly flush at the recessed 2-pin socket, although this may have been intentional for some reason I can’t fathom. They also include 6 pairs of ear tips that include Small, Medium and Large, spare dust filters and a tweezer (amazing) that helps you install the dust filters. is a Chinese IEM manufacturer that has garnered much interest within the headphone enthusiast community due to the success of their Kanas Pro and KXXS IEMs. The kick in Frank Ocean's "Lost" lacks grunt, it's more like a hollow thump without the density a kick should have. In direct comparison, the ER2XR have got the ever so slightly more even response wherefore they sound a smidgen smoother and more realistic, although it is a super close case.

It has both height and depth presence which actually represents the sound on a huge scale due to this It is very immersive and you can make out different instruments playing at different distances very easily.Yes, the box is only cardboard, but in all honesty, I have a weakness for Asian lettering such as this. Lower mid-range is neither upfront nor recessed, it is placed quite neutral, there's a very minimal bass bleed but it isn't audible unless you are really nitpicking. The Starfield's cable is tangle-free and easy to use, with the earpieces using the 2-pin connector style. There is no bleeding into the lower-mids, and vocals are even better portrayed on the E3000 esp the growling vocals. The upper midrange around 2-3khz sounds like it has a bit of an emphasis relative to the frequency ranges above this area, and so it can occasionally sound a bit shouty and throw off guitar tones a bit.
