About this deal

He knows that nobody will turn up to see him; they will be there for Mick, the abusive loudmouth in the BPD T-shirt.

At all the parts where you could hear the in emotion in his voice, and hear him sobbing as he narrates some of most difficult stuff in the book makes me just want to give him a big hug. He tries to explain what your life is like when you essentially have a brain that's trying to kill you every day. View image in fullscreen ‘My adult career has been trying to undo everything I taught myself about how to be like my dad’ . Tracini tells me about the condition’s nine traits, as outlined by the American Psychiatric Association. I have BPD, and this was less of a 'self-help' book and more of a commiserations book, and that's why I adored it.

This book not only GETS me with out feeling like I need to roll my eyes, this book is changing lives. Then I discovered, along with so many others, that Joe has struggled with BPD and that lead to struggles with substance abuse and suicidal thoughts.

it's rare to hear bpd spoken about in such human terms - not medicalised, stigmatised, romanticised, or misrepresented.

Part of my job is working with children who have suicidal ideation, self harm which affects their mental health. I don’t have the words to explain how helpful it is to know that you’re not alone, that you’re not the only one to have a broken brain if i can say it like that.

Just a small monthly donation by a handful of people will achieve this and you can be safe in the knowledge that any extra money we make via these donations will go directly towards helping others with BPD. One of the most important thing he does for us through his book, is normalize talking about suicide, a topic so taboo that those struggling with suicidal ideations often don’t seek help because of it. Been reading this book for a while now - got it shortly after it was published and raced through the first half.I feel like he partly wrote this book to give others dealing with mental illness some hope that it can get better. Thinking of the time he played a ukulele while standing in the bathtub singing a song he wrote about his life. But he does make it obvious they were more likely to take a pair of shears to pernicious weeds in the garden rather than dig them up by the roots. I loved the way Joe manages to balance the serious messages within the book with lots of humour making it a lot easier to read. Final note to say is to say that the comedy in this book will have you laughing at things you thought were morally wrong to laugh at, but here you are belly laughing at suicidal jokes.
