Mechanical machines are wonderful, but remember you are 100% in control the machine is not going to do anything for you. A simple machine to use, the HD1000 BE has all the basic features that you could need for any type of sewing. It always jams up, it can't reliably sew through vinyl, and sometimes it cant even sew through cotton without jamming up! Actually, I'd be surprised with the basic feed dog and single buttonhole, to find that the HD1000 had something as "advanced" as needle up/down. Whether you are having trouble threading your machine, can’t work out how to change the stitch settings or just want to make sure you’re getting the most out of your sewing machine it is always best to have a copy of the manual on hand. When setting up and threading the sewing machine, the Janome HD1000 has a Bobbin that sits inside a bobbincase before being inserted into your machine.

Best machine I've ever had I have had 2 of these (This model is identical to the thread banger I had in 2004). This wasn’t going to be my primary machine - garments will always be my main focus - so I didn’t want to spend a ton on it, but I wanted something reliable that would last through whatever abuse I threw at it.
