About this deal

The discovery will aid the campaign of her employer, the incumbent president of the United States, Zachary Herney, but put her further at odds with her already estranged father, Senator Sedgwick Sexton, a senator who is running for election. In 2005, Brown was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME Magazine, whose editors credited him with “keeping the publishing industry afloat; renewed interest in Leonardo da Vinci and early Christian history; spiking tourism to Paris and Rome; a growing membership in secret societies; the ire of Cardinals in Rome; eight books denying the claims of the novel and seven guides to read along with it; a flood of historical thrillers; and a major motion picture franchise. But before Rachel can contact the president, she and Michael are being attacked by a deadly team of thugs under mysterious political power. The Delta Force team believes them to be dead, leaving the scientists a chance to tell the President's advisor and Rachel's boss at the NRO about their discovery, and the subsequent attack. If so, their motive would be to cover up evidence that the meteorite is fake and solely designed to gain support for the incumbent President in the upcoming election.

I also want a sequel to this novel, since I want to see all the backlash that happens after the secret is discovered, and the continued building of relationships between some of the main characters. CERN Institute, Switzerland: a world-renowned scientist is found brutally murdered with a mysterious symbol seared onto his chest. With the Oval Office in the balance, the President dispatches White House intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton to the Milne Ice Shelf to verify the authenticity of the find. The action moves to the Arctic pole and the discovery of a meteorite apparently with evidence of life. And also the NASA finding and its deception and the political maneuvering described in the book although was meant as part of the story, I felt the political maneuvering part as a sub plot to the main story line which kind of hindered the smooth flow of the main story. She is sent on a mission by the President of the United States, Zachary Herney, to investigate the crash site of a meteorite in the Arctic Circle and to examine the meteorite remains for possible evidence of extraterrestrial life. With the White House in the balance, the President dispatches White House Intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton and a team of experts to the Milne Ice Shelf to confirm the authenticity of the find. and while this definitely was a bit over my head when it comes to science and space knowledge, it delivered immensely in terms of suspense, thrills, and shock. All his characters might as well be the same people -- David Becker (Digitial Fortress) might as well be Robert Langdon (Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code) -- ordinary people caught up in higher things, in over his head and things somehow work out fine.

Rachel is unaware of this, and believes that the President and NASA are part of the conspiracy to kill them.

He has numerous supporters, including many beyond the businesses who will profit from this because of the embarrassment of 1996, when the Clinton administration was informed by NASA that proof existed of life on other planets. Dan Brown is my new must-read -- Harlan Coben Dan Brown has built a world that is rich in fascinating detail, and I could not get enough of it. I am a huge fan of NASA, maybe an indirect result of being a fan of Star Trek, I don´t know, maybe even it can be due to being even before fan of Lost in Space and Space: 1999. Many believed the senator had a superb chance of stealing the White House from the embattled President next fall. His opponent, Senator Sedgwick Sexton, is a powerful man with powerful friends and a mission: to reduce NASA's spending and move space exploration into the private sector. Rachel alerts presidential advisor Marjorie Tench and NRO director William Pickering of the attack, and Pickering sends an air transport to bring them back to the United States. Gisters reduce complex reports into single-page briefs, and in this case the president needs that confirmation before he broadcasts to the nation, probably ensuring his re-election.
