About this deal

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. My only complaint is that you cannot leave the guide locking screws in the fixed base of the router when storing in the case. Saw the Bosch 1617 router combo at Lowe's for 219, but it was not the 1617evspk, which comes with a free edge guide/ circle cutter and also lists as 2 hp, may be the same motor, but I want the newer, updated router .

Mine has been used primarily in a router table with a home made router lift, never had an issue with any C ring. I took a Dremel and ground gently two small areas on my router base and then fitted it to the Festool base. Not enough to change my rating though, since all it took was a little compressed air around the switch to get it working again.

I had to replace my Makita router and I bought the 1617 Bosch unit after reading the reviews and boy am I happy I did, powerful, precise, smooth and accurate, I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend this router!

That being said, my other 2 machines are plunge units that are more suited to quickly finding the zone. This is serious stuff for power tool woodworking, cabinet grade MDF is like butter or cardboard in comparison.I understand that there is no perfect tool but I only have 1 shot and need to get the best I can afford. It's casing is well machined, and while that has little bearing on it's overall performance, it is a sign that the unit is quality manufactured. I have purchased other Bosch reconditioned products (hammer drill) from CPO Outlets and haven't had any issues in multiple projects. I have heard of the sticking issue before, I think it was on older models due to different materials and is no longer an issue with current model (I think).

It looks like I have to mill away a bit of the base to fit in between the hold down screw studs on the LR32. I also purchased the dust collector for my Bosch 1617, but haven’t tried it yet , so cant critique its dust collecting capability yet .
