About this deal

I got this book as part of the Chris Haughton Boxed Set:This has to be my favourite book from the whole collection of Chris Haugton picture books I've read! The book tells the story of a dog named George who continually disobeys his owner Harris who asked him to be good before he left him on his own for the day.

Haughton's retro illustrations capture George's inner turmoil in both the position of his ears and the subtle shift of his eyeballs. However, as it is quite charming in its humor it would could also be enjoyed by those older with lower reading capabilities. I love how relatable this book is, I think the illustrations are different and genuinely funny and I adore George.Being a Booktrust Best New Illustrator 2011, you'd expect Chris Haughton's artwork to be amazing - but the sophisticated rich jewel colour palette offers both adults and children something beautiful to look at. Oh No George' came out in March 2012 and has been nominated for 6 awards in 4 countries including the Roald Dahl Funny award.

In this hilarious read-aloud by the multiple award-winning author-illustrator of A Bit Lost and Shh! There is an orange theme throughout most of the illustrations although there are some contrasting colours and I just love the way the whole book looks. It's good to open up discussions about what they'd do in George's place and what they actually should do in George's place! we perceive him straight on allowing us to see his big puppy dog eyes and droopy ears as he knows what he is about to do is wrong. We read Oh No George by Chris Haughton in a PGCE English lesson and we all loved the rhythmic writing and the repetition used in the story.
