About this deal

Then Aurelia Blanchard arrives unannounced from Cornwall and convinces Nancy to a trip to London but abandons her to make her own way to the station. Until the day comes when the dashing Piers Blanchard appears on their doorstep from Cornwall, claiming he is Rosalind’s distant cousin and that Rockwood Castle is his. A tale containing piracy, lies, betrayal, intrigue, lots of arguments and of course love, there are lots of secrets and disappointments, castles and large houses and loyalty. It isn't long before she gains their loyalty and trust and soon Greystone Park begins to shine again.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book as is is the fourth of the Rockwood chronicles which is compelling to the series of Dilly Court's books and I am looking forwrd to reading her fifth book of the series The Snow bride due to be released on October. But the preventative men are quick to capture some of the smugglers whilst Rosie finds herself injured and in the debt of an unknown boy who rescued her and took her back home to Rockwood Castle. But despite the threat of being turned out onto the streets by the unscrupulous tallyman and the neverending struggle just to exist, Hetty is determined her family will never starve or want for a roof over their heads. Virtually destitute and desperate, Eloise is faced with her worst nightmare: she must either go to the workhouse, or abandon her children at the Foundling Hospital. After the sudden death of her husband, Patricia Greystone is left with nothing, and at twenty-four, she finds herself a penniles. Rosalind Carey lives along side her siblings at Rockwood Castle and are only a step away from loosing everything, and Piers Blanchland steps in to say he can save them all but can he be trusted. Of course, everyone thinks she has lost her mind and queries what she must be thinking taking in street urchins who will surely pilfer the silver when she isn't looking. Nancy was quite a wonderful women taking in all of the children so they could have a decent education and better themselves as they grew up instead of being on the streets poor and having to live starving and wondering where the next meal was coming from .

I did think that the next book in the series would be a direct follow on, but having read a preview, it seems not to be exactly. What they don't realise is that Nancy has no money on her which is why she was walking through the unknown streets of London alone. Her journey takes her to the London law courts, a grim parsonage in one of the most notorious parts of the East End and a house of ill-repute.

This author is amazing I've read every book she has written im so glad my friend told me about her this one was quite lovely and romantic. But Lady 'Bella' has a secret and unable to live with her domineering husband she decides to leave, fighting for custody of their daughter, Leonie. When Tom is sent packing, Effie is driven to desperation and she steals Jacob’s hidden cache of money and escapes with her son.Leaving her mother and younger brother and sister behind, Stella goes to a big country house outside London. When he grandfather passes away, Charity is helped by a kindly doctor who introduces her to bookseller, Jethro Dawkins. London, 1854: twenty-year-old Essie Chapman lives with her father in poverty stricken Limehouse, working on the river as a boatman.

The title and the blurb alluded to there being romance in the book, however there was absolutely none and the bit of ‘romance’ at the end was rushed and not very satisfying. Fans of the series might find it intriguing to delve into other works by {author name} to see how their writing has evolved or how different themes are explored across their body of work. Yes there were good parts and some action, but it all just plodded along and wasn't very captivating. Overall, I enjoyed the book — definitely worth a read if you're a fan of shows like "Downton Abbey" and you're looking for a fluffy (yet dramatic) holiday romance! She is married with two grown up children, and now lives in Dorset on the beautiful Jurassic Coast with her husband and large, yellow Labrador. Charity sleeps under the counter and is not well treated, but Jethro instills in her the love of books that began when her grandmother taught her to read. She turned the picture of the Christmas card over with her frozen hands, a pretty picture of a family gathering at Yuletide.
