About this deal

Fiona does a great job representing victims of psychological abuse and the effect it has on Lili’s memory.

With no identification, no phone and no understanding of why she should be at the opposite end of the country, Alice, the name that she adopts for the time being, needs to find answers. Ben, a travel photographer is only around for a few hours before he needs to catch a flight from Heathrow. Definitely not a book for those wanting cutesy romance only and yes I read it but will i reread it even if it’s good?

I don’t know what the Hell happened after Part I but this story went careening downhill, broke through some barriers, hit a huge boulder, went airborne, crash-landed, rolled 33. This book has me in a chokehold the entire time, I thought it was gonna be some kind of cutesy romance but it was so much more than that. whatever story they just told was so boring nothing happened and you feel like u wasted your time just listening …you start questioning what else you’re doing wrong in your life. I thought at first that I wasn’t going to like this book, but before long, I was gripped and couldn’t put it down.

This is not just a failed romance story and I would urge readers to take a deep breath before plunging in to Lucas’s novel. Despite being somewhat mentally prepared, I don’t think I was truly expecting the story to have the impact on me that it did. Once I started the book, I immediately realised that the cover was hiding something deeper and definitely sadder than I expected beneath. It is a beautiful, and yet also heartbreaking, story of finding yourself when you’ve been through the very worst that life throws at you. We flash forward 5 years, Lili has amnesia and shows up in Ben's town 500 miles away and we slowly learn why they never met up.

Ben is the first person to recognise her and tries to help her the best he can without telling her he knows her name. Five years later, Ben still wonders how he got things so wrong – he let the love of his life slip between his fingers. I didn’t totally agree with her decision making towards the end of the story, but I think her heart was in the right place and she more than redeemed herself. When I turned the last page, I did not sigh with the joy of a widowed woman whose previously cracked heart has been healed by the caulk of romantic tears. With thanks to HQ Digital and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I think that it was this that brought out some horrible relationships and some absolutely beautiful relationships that kept the book engaging and had me hooked. Jumping between timelines is one of my favourite writing styles so I loved that this book was covering multiple timelines at the same time, before they came together at the end. She has written heart-warming love stories and feel-good women’s fiction as Fiona Harper for more than a decade. They are the perfect example of soulmates and I would say love at first sight because that’s how I felt it was depicted.

Five years later, Ben still wonders how he got things so wrong - he let the love of his life slip between his fingers. I will confess I was slightly confused at the beginning because I didn’t bother to read the description before I dived in but it only took me a hot second to get so enamored with Ben and Lili’s love story. The author did a great job of the character Justin , as much as I wanted to punch him the way he was described was incredible.
