The front cover, featuring Lynott in the foreground, was originally supposed to be the back cover as the group wanted equal coverage of all members. However, manager Chris O'Donnell said the album was 75% live, with overdubs restricted to backing vocals and a few guitar solos to "clean the sound up". The Toronto show is amazing - Scott is on fire here - his first solo on Cowboy Song is better than Robbo's. Few bands have ever matched the explosive energy that Lizzy creates on such tracks as "Jailbreak", "Emerald", "Rosalie/Cowgirl's Song", "Don't Believe a Word", "Are You Ready" and "Sha-La-La", while their sing-along anthem "The Boys Are Back in Town" proves even more vivacious in a live setting. The band and Visconti listened to over 30 hours of archive recordings, looking for the best performances.

Live and Dangerous was released in 1978 and is arguably one of the best live albums of all time It was recorded in London and Toronto in 1977, during the tours accompanying the albums Johnny the Fox and Bad Reputation. Add to it such strong album cuts as "Massacre", "Johnny the Fox Meets Jimmy the Weed", "Warrior", "Suicide", and "The Rocker", and you have the ultimate Lizzy album. One thought that really stuck with me throughout this box set was that it documents a great band, at the absolute height of their powers.For this specific sale the CDs sleeve condition refers only to the inner paper insert sleeve, and does not refer to the outer digipak, jewel case or cardboard outer casing. He claims to have created some audience sounds from a keyboard-triggered tape loop in a similar manner to a Mellotron or sampling keyboard. Touring in support of the recently released Johnny The Foxalbum, these trio of shows largely feature that album, and their previous effort, the monumental Jailbreakalbum. It deserves to be there and I know many of you reading this will already have several copies of this album! The sleeve notes were written by Malcolm Dome and included a debate of exactly how much of the album was live and how much was overdubbed.

The final disc features the band ripping through the full album in London in 1978, without overdubs.To have all that talent coming at you through the monitors was hard to fully appreciate at the time. Using modern technology we have endeavoured to correct and amend any flaws on the original analogue tapes where possible, and present as complete a series of shows from Thin Lizzy's Live And Dangerous era. The band began touring to promote the album, but after a one-off gig in Ibiza, Lynott and Robertson had an acrimonious argument. For sheer sensory excitement, though, the opening power chords of Lizzy’s take on Bob Seger’s Rosalie take some beating, and the inherent spunk of Brian Robertson’s playing is manifest on four different instances of his extraordinary wah-wah solo on Don’t Believe A Word. sees the 45th anniversary of what is widely regarded as one of the greatest live albums of all time, Thin Lizzy's double platinum-selling Live And Dangerous, which was recorded in London and Philadelphia in 1977 during the Johnny the Fox and Bad Reputation tours.

There was something in the symmetry of Gorham and Robertson’s Les Pauls; something in the album cover-shot of a clench-fisted Lynott on his knees, that made Lizzy obvious poster boys.

In 2023 we get unprecedented access to the legendary Lynott-Downey-Gorham-Robertson line-up in full flight, opening their sets with show-stoppers ( Jailbreak and Emerald often in the first three), delivering favourites Still In Love With You and The Boys Are Back In Town before halfway, and climaxing with songs they hadn’t yet released: Baby Drives Me Crazy, Me And The Boys.
