About this deal

Just like roasted coffee, we tested our juniper at different roast levels until we found the perfect balance of sweet and bitter.

It is the brainchild of Canadians Rob and Kelly Carpenter along with whisky industry veteran David Robertson. It demonstrates the influence of our iterative, holistic approach, who we are as distillers, and where we are going as whisky makers. We'll send them to be recycled and you'll save paper, carbon emissions and time at the recycling centre! To create Height of Arrows we employed the same principles, focusing on juniper as our sole botanical only using additional ingredients to intensify flavours and our gin’s texture. A UNIQUE RECIPE - Height of Arrows Heavy Scottish Gin is hand-crafted with 4 natural ingredients, roasted juniper, salt, beeswax and sugar. Mirroring this approach, the aim was to create a gin with a complex array of flavours by utlising a minimal number of ingredients.

I’ve judged at international spirits competitions and I can truthfully say this is by far and away one of the BEST gins I’ve ever tasted. Height of Arrows Heavy is an Old Tom style, so has a touch of sweetener added, post-distillation – in this case sugar.

Lovely fresh notes of grapefruit and lemon zest, which can be enhanced with a garnish of lemon peel, or complemented with a sprig or rosemary. Holyrood is the first whisky distillery in the city of Edinburgh for almost 100 years, following the closure of Edinburgh (which was also known as Glen Sciennes or Newington) distillery in 1925.
