About this deal

The novel encourages us to remember that sometimes, to move forward, there are goodbyes, and many are goodbyes that we never want to say.

Overall this is an intelligent, refreshing and heart warming book that I adored, and would recommend to everyone who reads - so that's all of you! As requests begin to pour in, what follows is a lovely and heartwarming story full of love, empathy, and the best of humanity.Thank-you Netgalley and Headline books for approving my ARC request, it was an absolute pleasure to read. I liked the idea that when you read the first sentence of any book, you are completing the author’s work.

All of those things are legitimate realities, but they felt a little more tossed in there than part of the story itself. While a tad informal, I thought the writing very good, as is the characterisation even with so many people.By the way, you can find many book recommendations that will keep me going after I manage to pull myself out of this enchanting world. I loved the concept of the book pharmacy - so much so that I am trying to figure out if there might be a way of putting into practice something similar in our local library! I loved the concept of getting books as part of mental health and how they can help us through rough times.

Fell in love with the characters and their stories that happened in a time that I turned to books as well. I adored this novel but I cautiously recommend it, as I am aware that the Covid-19 pandemic is ongoing and a novel about it may be triggering for some people. There was some uplifting takeaway from the book and I did enjoy all the prescriptions of books for each character I even wrote some down that I would like to try.Wasn’t sure how I’d go delving into the pandemic… yet it was a joy to read, as are all of Stephanie Butland’s magical books. Overall the feeling of being back in lockdown and if you suffered from separation from your family or a devastating loss then really this isn’t the book for you. The very real aspect of this being set through the pandemic made it quite challenging at times and brought back some of those very weird emotions I know a lot of people felt during such a weird time, but it also reminded me of how much I read at that time and how important books were to me then, when I had nothing else to do but sit and worry. As certain as I have always been that I can be alone without being lonely, opening the covers, turning the pages, I know that I will find comfort in reading a book.

It's filled with the recommendations that they provide - books for loneliness, books to scare you, books for being normal or books to travel somewhere new. On the whole I found this book to be an uplifting read but there were times I had to put it down and take a moment, thanks to a couple of heart-shattering moments.

There’s a woman who’s just escaped from an abusive husband…and there’s a moody teenager who takes what seems to be an irrational dislike to Kelly.
