From the amazing characters to the suspense, this was exciting, entertaining, intense, and all kinds of sexy. Also worth mentioning that this book has great supporting characters who’s stories are crying out to be shared. I love her fully developed and exciting stories, clever writing, fun characters, the slow burn, and the hot and steamy parts. Long story short (and in this case it was a really long story), what annoyed me most was, that despite his over the top protectiveness and possessiveness the hero chose his own emotional safety over the heroine's.

The setting of Mackinac Island, Brick and Remi’s second chance at love, I truly enjoyed all of the characters and the story. I mean I’m all for unique/quirky heroines, but you lose me pretty quick when it crosses into “special snowflake” territory. When things finally come together for them, get ready to have a man who knows what he wants and a woman willing to give him everything. I will say that as the story progressed, I was happy to see Remi and Brick talk things out, and really put more effort into their relationship, especially with Remi trying to show Brick just how much she cared about him, and that she wanted more from him than just physical intimacy.For all the times, Brick and Remi were tempted to take their attraction to the next step, Brick was the one who always hesitated because, one, he felt like he couldn’t be the person Remi wanted to be (Brick’s words), and in Brick’s mind the fact that Remi was his brother’s high school sweetheart, Ex wife’s best friend, and boss’s daughter, he felt like it would have been over complicated with Remi.

Somehow, after leaving Remi broken and used and on the floor, the takeaway is that SHE is using HIM and she has to apologize and convince him she loves him. This was an extremely well thought out, in-depth and detailed story, filled with so many layers and amazing character development.

When Remi’s eager fingers wrapped around his thick shaft, guiding it between her legs, his head fell back against the cushion. Remi and Brick’s attraction/ crush they had for one another wasn’t just something out of the blue, it was something that was present even back when Remi was in high school. connect after their killer push and pull with such a sensational build and delicious slow burn, it was scorching hot and cold shower inducing.

Not to mention, his frequent sporting of a steel rod in his pants at the slightest provocation in those situations between them. because the more I think about it the less I like it and the more I have a feeling I've read a telenovela. After an actual lifetime of him pushing her away and hurting her at every turn, he is somehow carrying around a rage boner at HER? Watching them bumble through this metaphorical wall of past hurts, of insecurities, of frustrations was entertaining to watch.When it came to Remington Ford, Brick not only had his hands full with the mischievous Remi, but he couldn’t help his mind from wandering with some… interesting thoughts about her. I feel like this book could have been a reasonable length if the aqueous, protracted, acrobatic sex scenes were just trimmed to some normal people slap and tickle.
