About this deal

Also his incredibly high-pitched scream when used his Angry Explosion and the higher pitched scream effect he did when he got blow up by Majin Vegeta are removed. The individual thin cases feature new artwork based on the original Japanese poster artwork on the front, and the clean artwork from the previous American release on the back. Funimation, and by extension Crunchyroll, seems to be under the belief that only the hardcore collector fans want the show in the correct aspect ratio and everyone else prefers the series to be in widesceen.

I think the idea would have been to release the singles dub in boxsets, as that was uncut and could be synced to the Japanese audio track. But ya the black crush is nothing compared to how screwed up the color is in the dragon boxes and even the 30th aniversary set suffers tint problems. Fortuneteller Baba's appearance is left intact with Laurie Steele instead of Linda Young redubbing over it.Man if only, I don't know, fans came together and put all these pieces of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT together based on what's available to create a definitive edition of each show.

Instead they spent money on adding DNR on top of Franko's beautiful transfer and wasted their time cropping the image (which anyone who wanted could have just used the Zoom feature on their TV remote anyway). Unlike the first season, the set has received little controversy (most of the fans complaints are identical to the previous set).I like the fact that the Toonami music track is available on here, but it's too bad it is the second track. TL;DR version: Dragon Box sets are still the definitive best way to watch DBZ (if you're indifferent to the Faulconer score versus the Kikuchi score). Moori's voice is still Mark Britten when Guru dies again and during his stay at Capsule Corporation.

Some minor changes were made to the dialogue in addition to minor characters receiving re-dubbing (such as the News Interviewer who approaches Cell before the games begin) in addition to Ox-King and the narration. Each volume includes four discs with approximately 10 episodes per disc and also includes certain bonus featurettes. I think I’m ok with This set I have, the steels would’ve been nice tbough if they get the right treatment. Great box set, all blu ray discs separated into separate blu disc cases and not flimsy cardboard type, picture quality is really great as well and best of all these discs work in the UK.Each successive volume was released six weeks after the previous volume, with the exception of the first volume. Another note is that Goku has a voice filter added when he powers up to Super Saiyan 3 in front of Innocent Buu and Babidi, which is untouched on the VHS/DVD Single releases. Despite the massive controversy, the set has become one of the best-selling anime DVDs all of time, selling more than 48,000 copies during its first week of release. Even if you consider the video quality on the new Blu-rays to be as good as the Dragon Box (I don't, but I don't intend on starting that conversation in here again), they lack next-episode previews on all episodes and all of the title cards are changed to the dub's heavily altered titles, so they are still shortchanged in matters other than just visuals. In that respect this could be a cheaper way of owning the series for US and Canadian fans who just want to have the show in 4:3, and can't afford to import the Manga UK editions, which is something at least.

This version has sparked controversy for not exactly providing the right coverage of the episodes in 4:3 (with some parts still cropped compared to the Level sets and original Japanese version) but in the end it sold enough to become a reality. English track with revised dialog based on the FUNimation dub, with the original Kikuchi score (Dolby Digital 5. The version of the show used in the 30th BDs was fine before they smeared all the grain off and gamma-blasted it to oblivion. The set contains the full 291-episode run of the Dragon Ball Z anime series, starting with Goku's duels against Radditz, Vegeta, and Nappa during season one's Saiyan Saga, and concluding with the Buu Saga in season nine.

I already mentioned my opinion of Kai's English audio, but if you want Japanese voices, that would be a better bet.
