Still, it was really cheap and it looks like I found a new love and a replacement for my beloved and discontinued V. the moment a frag displays something very feminime/flowery/girly it also stops smelling good to my nose, and often times it gets cloying for me. Deep Red is sandalwood-y, a touch fruity, a touch spicy, with noticeable floral notes (mainly tuberose on me).

I suppose it is a bit similar to hypnotic poison in terms of the coldish vanilla, however it completely lacks the almond and play-doh notes which really characterise HP. Weird but they are different, the one I got first doesn't last as long, even though they both seem to be original. Now I get more of the citruses and floral (I tend to think that it’s freesia that I get the most) the wood is definitely still there but it has vanilla touch in the dry down!

In fact, I don't think that I have smelt anything like it since and it remains a very unique composition in perfect accord with its name. It's slightly masculine-leaning, and if it wasn't marketed to women, I would guess it was a men's fragrance. It's just a fruity vanilla on me but something about it is intoxicating (to me) really works well in the autumn when the weather is just starting to turn cool. I think this fragrance is totally unisex,I can imagine a young guy in his 20s walking past women and turning their heads. When I've smelt it on other people it's perfect and I fell in love with it, however it just does not agree with my skin chemistry.All in all very versatile and unoffensive, doesn't get "sexy" until you've worn it for a while and then it's easily a date night scent, very intimate.

When I first spray this on, I get the impression that it won't last very long because it does have a watered-down quality when it's wet. It definitely conjures up images of a woman in her twenties, with a drop dead gorgeous body, wearing a red hervé légère dress, out for a night of clubbing. The projection is good for around half an hour before it settles into a skin scent for another hour and then it's just gone, like totally disappears, can't even smell it if I put my nose right where I sprayed.Per Fragrantica, this fruity-floral aroma opens with notes of black currant, pear, tangerine and blood orange. I'm 40 now and I'll repurchase in a heart beat, if I find Deep Red again, even if I see it out of season.
