About this deal

It is one of a few e-ink tablets that were released circa 2021 that are still top products in 2023 (the others being the ultra-thin and beautifully-designed reMarkable 2, and the Supernote A5 X with it’s well-developed and innovative hardware/software). It won't playback movies, it isn't a powerful gaming slate, and it won't even be particularly good for fancy digital drawing – after all, it's got a monochrome screen, so no colours, just shades of grey. Nevertheless, the Note Air 2 Plus remains a great e-reader and basic tablet, although those looking for a device to watch media should opt for a tablet with a more vibrant display, such as an iPad.

The added benefit of Android has the same effect on the utility of this tablet as Red Bull on people's forelimbs. They say that it has been damaged by external forces (impossible, and look at the screen, there isn't a scratch or a dent!

Even hefty PDF documents clocking in at 150MB opened without slowdown in the native Boox Reader app. There's only one button on this device, and only one port: a Power button and a USB-C port, both on the left side along with the underwhelming single speaker. The Note Air also lacks the Max Lumi's fingerprint scanner, but you can put in a password or passcode to lock the tablet if you like. With no backlight, the tablet looks like a sheet of paper, or more accurately, like a sheet of card.

In addition to his extensive journalism experience, Basil is also skilled in video production, content strategy, and vegan baking, and runs Tech[edit], a technology-focused YouTube channel. Just getting people in businesses and on the high street to start thinking about these things is also a welcome side benefit, so feel free to include statements even if you can’t give definitive answers. Power to Do More The latest BOOX Firmware offers new powerful features that enhance the performance of the Note Air2 E Ink tablets. Reading for 30 minutes consumed around 5-8% of the battery, depending on the lighting configurations. Like most E Ink devices, the Note Air 2’s display has paper-like qualities that make it a joy to read.Personally, my preference is for a yellow-toned display, but the colder tones proved handy for reading outdoors, or in other brightly lit areas. Sure, you could use it without doing so, but if you use productivity apps such as Evernote, OneNote, Dropbox or Notion, then you’ll want to take advantage of the Note Air 2’s abilities. The MOON Light 2 technology allows you to use the device in the dark or in poor light conditions without harming your sight.

I did download YouTube, although the Note Air 2 Plus’s refresh rate wasn’t good enough to run fast-paced video content, which made me question why it was supported at all.The Note Air 2 Plus looks like an e-reader, with the thicker bezel on the left side of the display making it easier to hold, in the same vein as the Kindle Oasis. It’ll run the Kindle app and display your eBooks and PDF files, as well as work as a great digital notepad – no problem.

Overall this is a well designed and competent piece of tech, which has space to grow and develop, given the correct investment. The Air 2 isn't a huge upgrade over its predecessor, but because the original model won't likely stay on sale for much longer, the Note Air 2 is our clear Editors' Choice winner for 10-inch ebook readers and E Ink tablets. Solid and sleek, they’re the most striking qualities the Note Air 2 Plus hit home when I first got my mitts on it. Whilst the NA2+ shares the same screen size and other characteristics as the Tab Ultra series, it still has its place in the market because they are designed with very different use cases in mind. As well as black, white, and three shades of grey, there is also a palette of additional colours, including red, green, and blue – these additional colours are not discernable on the NA2+’s monochrome screen but can be seen when the notebook is exported and viewed on a colour screen.

inches, to be exact), but they're still fully readable, and I think the tradeoff is worth it given how easy this tablet is to hold in one hand. Compared side by side, the Elipsa turns pages slightly more quickly and its front light is slightly bluer and brighter.
