The designer Michele De Lucchi took it as a model for his design of Alessi's Plissé electric kettle and designed a kettle that is anything but functional. Alessi seeks to translate bold creative impulses into real-life objects capable of fulfilling dreams and satisfying desires. With a sculptural form alluding to the folds of a pleated fabric the Plissé is very much a piece of art as well as a practical kitchen tool.
