About this deal

Micro 4/3 has established itself as a serious format and those who have predicted its demise over the past 3-4 years have been wrong as it is still going and growing in popularity because nothing offers a mixture of getting everything so close to being right that Olympus in the mirror less body world. Unlike with the previous E-M10 Mark III, the electronic shutter can be used in the more advanced PASM exposure modes, but in standard Olympus fashion it’s confusingly lumped into the drive mode menu where, inexplicably, it’s denoted by a small heart symbol. We've assembled a few of our favorite articles, tutorials, explainers, and guides to help beginners get started with photography and level up to advanced concepts. This is as it should be so you can just turn the barrel to open the lens without having to precisely place your fingers on the release button.

I found that when shooting relatively predictable subjects such as oncoming vehicles, the camera had no trouble maintaining focus while shooting at 5fps. However, there’s a key difference between this sensor and those in the higher-end E-M5 and E-M1, as well as the OM-5 and OM-1 cameras that came after. The Sony a9 III is the world's first full-frame mirrorless camera to feature a global electronic shutter with simultaneous readout. Todays EVF are soooo much better than the pentamirror finders we have been peaking through for so long! Build quality – This E-M10 is built just like the current and more expensive E-M5 which is built very good.IQ wise, I like them all but the Olympus colors and IQ always do it for me and I never am left wanting or regretting taking one out. It is another camera in the OM-D line that is just a WIN and does not make any real compromises to offer us a more affordable entry unto the Olympus system. Everything falls sensibly to hand, and the most important settings generally have their own control.

I don’t want to spend too much (EMD1) as my main camera is a Canon DSLR for more professional photos. I will always love my primes but this is a lens I can see taking out on those days when I just need one lens to cover all I need. I also do lots of video and use a Sennheiser wireless mic system, so the lack of audio input is a major bummer. It's a very compact lens (even smaller than Panasonic's 14-42 Vario X powerzoom) but despite its size, finds room for both a zoom and focus rings. I’ve had the Em5 for nearly 2 years and the EM1 for 4-5 months and I cant say I’ve noticed any shutter shock issues…. There are very few comments/reviews on the em10 iiiS which has a true silent mode independent of the AP mode. Then, something happens within the camera and I never see the flicker again when the camera is on, whether framing my shots or recording and viewing videos.

This implements electronic first curtain below 1/320 sec shutter speed, thus reducing vibration, in theory, from the shutter. These are three Micro 4/3 mirrorless models that are truly state of the art and can easily provide anyone with gorgeous quality photos while offering speed, build and features that would make any shutter bug happy and many other mirror less camera companies a little nervous. With Olympus continually being on top of their own mirrorless camera game I admit…I was a bit hesitant when the E-M10 was announced. As my professional work started to take over more and more of my time, I decided to get myself a capable, take-everywhere camera to keep my street photography going while at the same time cutting down processing/scanning times that come with film. For years, the system maintained three separate lines – at the top, the E-M1 cameras, which were the pro-level flagships. I shot a nice D800 and SONY with some fancy lenses at a 21st on the weekend, swapped EM1 with owners. Keystone Compensation enables in-camera corrections of converging verticals, previewed live onscreen.

Olympus's noise reduction setting is accessed from the menu (Custom Menu E: Noise Filter), with four options available (Off, Low, Standard and High). The E-M10 Mark IV is packed with features that allow you to accurately capture once-in-a-lifetime moments. In fact, it weighs as much as a single 500 ml bottled beverage**, even when paired with the standard kit lens. Oly needs to come out of last century for battery charger as welll really a brick with a powercord to lug around c’mon…. Just like its predecessor, it’s a lovely little camera that’s a joy to use and delivers great pictures.
