About this deal

rear monitor that tilts for shooting from high viewpoints and inventive angles, with touch operability to command AF and shutter release functions. A deep grip on the front gives you a good, firm hold on the camera; round the back, the extra height in the body leaves enough room around the big, tilting screen for the buttons. That’s 5EV above its maximum 'standard' ISO value of 51,200, so the quality inevitably takes a nosedive, but it is an indication of the technological advances built into the D7500.

We were pleased to see 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) video capture arrive on the D7500, at 30, 25 and 24p for up to 29 minutes and 59 seconds. As on the D500, omitting the low-pass filter enabled Nikon to eke out that bit more detail from the 20. Highlight-weighted metering: prioritises the brightest elements in the frame, helping to avoid images with blown-out highlights. On the same part of the image: D7200, D500, Canon D1x-II : the predominant light source is from the right, not the left. The Nikon D7500's relatively low resolution does hurt it slightly in our lab tests, where it's knocked back into fourth place by the other three cameras, but its sensor does not have an anti-aliasing filter, so the gap is quite small in the lab and even smaller in real-world shooting, where you have to look quite closely to see the differences. That might have been an acceptable trade off 2-3 years back with the D7200 and D750 in exchange for good OVF subject tracking.

On the outside, the D7500 sports a carbon-fibre body rather than metal alloy, though it feels plenty sturdy enough nonetheless and it is weather-sealed. He now spends his spare time using his trusted Leica M-E shooting Street photography or general life as he sees it, usually in Black and White. You can optimize the videos for smartphones and tablets by recording the videos in MP4 and AAC format. So if I want to use this for video: I need a slightly long 85mm (ff equ) lens with shallow DOF for faces, and a wide 35mm lens for medium close ups, and a wide angle for landscapes. The field of view is 750mm here, and yes this is a compromise: light on money and weight and of course lower quality than an 800mm F4. The touchscreen tilts up and down and has a resolution of 922k dots, slightly down on some current rivals. The 180-pixel RGB metering sensor and the advanced subject recognition system combined create sublime recordings, even when capturing small or fast moving subjects.

At ISO 51,200, there is some obvious detail loss and some smoothing in fine textures, but the overall contrast, colour saturation and impression of clarity is excellent. Comprehensive weather sealing is applied to the camera body to prevent dust and water droplets from damaging the electronics, for added peace of mind. Phenomenal subject recognition: 180K-pixel RGB metering sensor and Advanced Scene Recognition system. An HDMI out exports your work in pure and uncompressed form, and the brand's Electronic Vibration Reduction reduces camera shake when shooting hand-held. With the D7500’s optimized power management, you can shoot approximately 950 shots 6 with the included EN-EL15a battery before you have to worry about swapping it.

A point with two sides to it: You are absolutely right that most brand lenses from Canon and Nikon for APS-C score miserably.
