ALSO, if you're into audiobooks, definitely, definitely worth a try, especially if you can pick them up from your library, and I'd imagine most would have them considering how popular and long-running this series is. But Eve, she was amazing tough, (considering her past) independent who took her detective job as the most important thing in her life. Only her story takes place a little farther into the future (2060), so as to have a little sci fi fun, but not so much that it takes away from Eve Dallas's story.

They're both damaged, victims of horrific childhoods who were made stronger in the crucible rather than broken.
