About this deal

Their most sacred rites are proscribed by law (the first rule of Cannibal life, we’re told, is “NO COPS”), the media stereotypes them with comical images of bones through noses and bubbling pots, and their history is one of persecution, marginalisation and pursuit by torch-wielding mobs. They have come together to witness the death of their mother and then to eat her afterwards based on the rules on the Cannibal principles with which they have been raised. Even before starting the book you will see humour, in the author's description and other introductory information which points towards a good reading experience. Of course, any of my criticisms could be taken as proof that the author has achieved what he intended but he really was trying too hard towards the end of the story.

if you are a chain breaker in YOUR family -- (hard knock truth) -- you just might be seen as a NOBODY!The novel’s most peculiar and most delicate turn is that Seventh – who begins by wanting nothing to do with his heritage – finds himself starting to feel responsible for the fragile chain of culture and tradition that connects him to his ancestors. Przed śmiercią matka wydaje dyspozycje, którą część ciała powinno spożyć każde z jej dzieci - w zależności od "zasług", zainteresowań, preferencji seksualnych oraz tego, jak ją traktowało za życia.

Seventh Seltzer has done everything he can to break from the traditions of the past, but in his overbearing, narcissistic mother’s last moments, she whispers in his ear the two words he always knew she would: ‘Eat me’. Diving into the new lives of the 12 siblings and their conflicting views on their cultural heritage, this story gets chaotic and can be sometimes hilarious. But once Unclish begins on the ceremony, with its elaborate schema of Draining, Purging and Partitioning, and the vexed question of side-dishes, you’ll need a pretty strong stomach. Can-Am is an abbreviation for Cannibal-American, and the family have to eat her (hence the weight gain prior to imminent demise). He never loved her, but the sense of guilt and responsibility he feels--to her and to his people and to his "unique cultural heritage"--is overwhelming.
