About this deal

If you are missing this first part (so need the MUT as a handle), the rod will be too short to reach all the way through the barrel. The Leatherman MUT (Military Utility Tool) is Leatherman’s first multi-tool that can be used as a tactical and practical tool.

My EOD has seen use on the ski patrol, rope access jobs, tinkering at home, on climbs, working on mountain bikes, and being dropped, smashed, run over and even used as an anchor for a rappel (not a manufacturer’s recommendation). Items delivered: 1 x Leatherman MUT accessory set with carbon scraper, weapon dismantling mandrel, ripper blade insert, 154CM stainless steel wire cutter inserts, Torx screwdriver no. The MUT (Military Utility Tool) is billed by Leatherman as “the first multi-tool that functions as both a tactical and practical tool for military, LE, or civilian shooters” and is packed full of functions not found in other multi-tools. I have even used it to plunge detonation cord into Emulex, which made me feel like Arnold Swartzenegger in Commando. The supplied key had seemed a slightly loose fit, so I moved up to the next level; a mini screwdriver set which had T8, T9 and T10 bits. The first test I always do with any bladed instrument is to see if the factory edge will slice paper on the bias and shave hair. First of all, I am new at the post, in fact I am not a native English speaker so sorry for my mistakes. The ⅜-inch wrench works as advertised, but the front sight adjustment tool is a bit of a niche item, given modern weapons advancement. I don’t know what you want me to say, it screwed screws, but the carbide bits present a bit of a problem, since they’re harder than most screws and will likely strip them if you apply too much pressure.

You will also be charged a Disbursement fee by DHL which varies depending on your country but should be 10-15 Euros. Unfortunately as a UK resident, this locking knife is something of a potential issue with EDC so I’ll take another look at that later. Once we have raised a claim on your behalf, the claim will then be investigated with our supplier, before a replacement or refund is issued to you. All my multi-part rods are based on the handle having the first rod section permanently attached to it.The Leatherman MUT is not only a practical tool but can also maintain military gear by utilising a bronze carbon scraper, disassembly punch and bolt override tool.

Featuring things like a bronze carbon scraper, a bolt override tool, a bore brush attachment, and many others, it is all designed to take the place of most, if not all, of your cleaning kit. To test the wire cutters, I skipped straight past the copper wire that we all know this thing could cut and proceeded to cut through steel wire coat hangers, one after the other, without any sort of issue. The scraper’s nail-nick works perfectly for this, so long as you line it up properly (as shown here). If you read the review entirely on Tactical Reviews, please consider one of the following to join in any discussion. The tool features a combination knife and saw, both made of 420HC, which gives them a reasonable level of durability and edge retention in between sharpenings. The bit-kit has two strips of bits that fit the MUT’s bit holder and the accessory kit has a bag of several parts for the MUT.

Even the hammer, which is small, has been handy, from hammering in steel snow pickets through bulletproof grooming to bent bindings and boot buckles, the hammer is much more useful than I thought it would be. A: Put it this way, this thing is so motivated, it bought a Camaro at 32 percent APR in Oceanside, married a 19 year old that it met last week, and is already saving for a sick full-body American flag tattoo. The bronze carbon scraper uses the material that it does for two reasons: first, because bronze is softer than steel, so there’s no risk of you marring the finish of your weapon; and second, because carbon doesn’t bond to bronze the way that it does steel, which means that cleaning the freshly-scraped carbon off of the MUT should be as simple as wiping it down. The thread-lock used makes the turning motion very sticky, but the screw certainly won’t fall out on its own.Still a useful feature, as a brush can be directly fitted and used to scrub areas round the breech and into the chamber, and that in itself is worth it.
