About this deal

breath new life in the 'Kick-Ass' universe with a hero for our times - a fierce black woman saving her community while supporting her family and her dreams. The script loses little time in over-explaining why Patience chose to dress like Kick-Ass in particular: it simply assumes that that iconography is part of her world’s zeitgeist, aligned with past volumes of the series. Read our extensive list of rules for more information on other types of posts like fan-art and self-promotion, or message the moderators if you have any questions. The initial pages showing Patience’s last tour in Afghanistan are intense, with helicopter and car chases mixed with gunfight: it moves forward at an incredible pace and readers will want to revisit those moments to capture all the details on a second reading. The issue raises some intriguing questions too, like how is this going to fit in with the continuity of the larger universe and what part are the other characters going to play in this tale?

KICK-ASS IS BACK-ready to wipe out the city's criminal lowlives, destroy its gangs, and save its communities from decay. This series is trapped in a weird middle ground between grounded superhero drama and wacky, violent romp. She produces a podcast of the same name, is a Rotten Tomatoes approved critic and contributes to a number of publications including JumpCut Online and Filmhounds. Kick-Ass is very much about the rude intersection of superhero comics and the real world, yet there's little about Romita's art style that screams realism.

Overall, I loved the introduction to the new Kick-Ass story arc, believing it to be a solid and impactful start. While one of the more recognizable Millarworld properties, Kick-Ass has never really lived up to its potential as a story exploring what happens when ordinary people attempt to become costumed vigilantes. It is surprising how well it works and how it effectively connects to the final moments of the issue, where the action and violence ramp up again, to gruesome results. It might have been successful if Millar had bothered to delve a little deeper into the inner life of his protagonist and brought to light something that felt half as true as Dave Lizewski did at his best. Everything the writing characters art and development are amazing I did not expect this comic to be good but I was shocked when I found out detailed and great it was. He and artist Bryan Hitch pulled it all off in spades: The Ultimates and its sequel, Ultimates 2, were ensconced at the top of the sales charts every month; what’s more, they were critical successes, as well. A more serious take on their green-and-yellow suited vigilante with the same bone-crushing action and exciting art.

Describes a book or dust jacket that does show some signs of wear on either the binding, dust jacket or pages. This is a brand new (though familiar) world for Kick-Ass, and hopefully this new take on the universe and a new home at Image comics proves successful for Patience. For all that the book aims to show us ordinary people playing at being superheroes, the violence is often stylized and exaggerated to the point where any sense of reality is washed away. This series at least gives us a much different lead character, but in all other respects it feels like more of the same.

It was in this environment that Millar made his first major contribution to Marvel with Ultimate X-Men, as Millar integrated forty years’ worth of X-Men history, characters and lore into a solid two-year run, making the companion title to Ultimate Spider-Man every bit the creative and commercial success. Submissions should be for the purpose of informing or initiating a discussion, not just to entertain readers. s art has never felt been disproportionate to the extremes that can be seen in many titles, so his approach is perfect. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins.By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. The new Kick-Ass abandons nerdy high schooler Dave Lizewski in favor of Patience Lee, a recently discharged military veteran struggling to support her family.
