About this deal

Quality control seems (from this sample of one) to be better than on the Sports — I experienced no hard starting or skipping, which suggests no baby’s bottom. Perhaps being a left hander, I am more sensitive to having a nib on the wet side, particularly for lefty overwriting. It is also a medium that is very much serendipity led and the beauty of the final outcomes are often dictated by this.

I have a pair of these which perform well and are comfortable although I have mixed feelings about the look. The Perkeo collection by Kaweco features beautiful and sleek fountain pens available in four original colours and two nib sizes, fine and medium. I feel like I’ve done a near full review but have not yet mentioned why Kaweco have kindly leant us this pen.

We specialise in hard to find and international magazine titles including Apartamento, L'Étiquette, Popeye and Gentlewoman along with a range of fiction and non-fiction books from a wide range of independent publishers. The light can shine through the translucent plastic and is reflected by various angles and edges of the fountain pen.It has a transparent ink feeder, so you can watch the ink on its journey through the pen and out onto the paper!

This Kaweco Collection edition is a powerful red, which moves along the spectrum from pink to orange, depending on how you view it. This, as previously mentioned, is a downside to the breathing holes in the barrel as this stops the Perkeo from being used as an eye dropper. Also being a lot thinner than the sides on the cap means that you will need a very high level of OCD to want to line up the top facet of the cap and barrel, which is a good thing as the cap pulls on/off, so no threads to keep everything in line. With their classic designs and exemplary performance, Kaweco pens perfectly combine tradition and innovation. Since I bought my Orangina Sport Kaweco have changed their supplier from Bock to Jowo with the result the shape, patterning and feed are slightly different (check the pictures at the very bottom of this article).I’m not quite sure what it is but the reason may be that many are designed for younger people or students from countries where fountain pens still must be used at least some of the time in school. Since the UK left the EU in January 2021, the way international shipments are dealt with by Customs has changed. Certainly, the nibs move across the paper surface with considerable ease allowing more freedom for speed, movement and expression.
