About this deal

I really do think that the people who make these bags rely on consumer needs to figure out the best configuration for these bags. This design does allow for uninhibited access to the tool pockets on either end, but it also means there isn’t an efficient way to lift the bag once loaded to the upper limits of its weight capacity. There are a total of 20 pockets on the interior and exterior, including a protective phone/sunglasses case.

I still have some giveaways planned, and purchased a couple of Husky tool bags to bundle with the prizes. Ideal Industries’ pro series molded-bottom tool carrier features 32 internal and external pockets for flexible storage. The large opening gives access to equipment, including two pockets in the inner flap and a large side pocket. It’s constructed over a thermoformed EVA-foam base, features a reinforced lid, as well as 900D TPU-coated nylon side panels and removable storage compartments that allow it to expand or collapse at your convenience.

I liked that the pockets themselves are deep and will hold tools securely, and the front hook-and-loop closure pocket is perfect for smaller bits and drivers. Husky tool bags aren’t designed to be compatible with a specific storage system and might not fit well inside larger toolboxes or truck organization systems. It may cost you more than a Husky tool bag, but the D-Bag comes with great storage capabilities, ergonomic features, and long-lasting, durable construction that will protect your tools and equipment.

This center compartment can also hold several long-handled hammers, a few speed squares, a drill driver, an impact driver or hammer drill, and even a spare battery or two.It has four smaller compartments tapered for tool stability, washer rivets for extra strength and an extra-large metal tool clip. This bag measures 18 inches long, 11 inches wide, and 14 inches deep, offering much more space than almost any other tool bag on the market. Other than some of my longer tools like pry bars and handsaws, it held just about every hand tool imaginable for a DIY kit, as well as most power tools. It features outside and inside pockets for hand tool storage and a rugged zipper to prevent tool loss. The main compartment and pockets can be opened with one hand so the user can maintain three points of contact.

Between loading the bag with tools and transporting it, this test provided an excellent idea of how much the Husky tool bag could carry and how easy it was to organize. The technician toolpouch is essentially a part of my body at work, my coworkers all appreciated my recommendations and many have joined the club. It rolls around easily and has a sturdy handle – the additional bag sits on top of the larger one so I can tote everything one-handed.

Personally, I’ve used and seen a number of different Husky tool bags that I’d describe as being quite good and even excellent. DIYers and pros who prefer to have a smaller bag or several sets of bags or boxes set up for certain work may not see the benefit of this bag. Once you start rolling it around though the weight disappears; it’s really only an issue when lifting. I got my sawzall in it, as well as a 24oz hammer and pry bar, along with 2 drills, a charger, all of my hand tools, levels, tape measures, extra bags of bits, a set of T-handle allen wrenches, multimeters, flashlights, the list keeps going. The D-Bag is a military-grade, hybrid soft and hard shell tool bag with a ballistic 900D nylon cloth coating (which won’t rip, tear, or snag no matter what you put it through).

There’s only one good way to test a tool bag, and that’s by loading it up with a typical collection of DIY tools and putting it through the paces—which is exactly what I did. They’re thin enough to get a good grip but comfortable enough not to hurt my hand or cause discomfort. Designed to withstand heavy use and abuse, this versatile combo bag won’t need to be replaced for years. Ideal Industries’ Pro Series large-mouth bag features a sturdy design that opens completely for easy access to tools and equipment. Wife picked me up a DeWalt contractor bag (18″ I think) at some point, and that’s still kicking around my gang box with my belt and bags for odd specific carry needs, but it’s also held up extremely well through the years.

water-resistant material will protect the contents of your bag to some degree, but your tools may still be vulnerable to harsh elements. Petzl’s Duffel 65 medium-capacity transport bag features padded back and shoulder straps and has a volume of 65 liters.
