About this deal

As a person that doesn't necessarily believe in any deities, it was nice to see my views represented in this chapter. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic!

My blog details my practice, focusing on hedgecraft, the Wheel of the Year, spirit communication, and folk magic.Rowan is sent to spend her summer holidays with an aunt in the country, very reluctantly I might add. Brilliant, love the way she has both wrote this (in letters form) and the way she explims the belief system behind each topic so beautifuly. She loves to read and has always enjoyed fantasy novels, particularly the very dark and twisty ones with mythical creatures. Written in the form of letters from an experienced witch to her two apprentices, solitary witchcraft is offered, not as a substitute for coven worship, but as a fulfulling lifestyle in its own right. When I saw she had another book coming out titled The Path of the Hedge Witch, I knew I had to get my hands on it.

Unlike many other spiritual paths, paganism and witchcraft, although not a religion, have no one book to guide us. Skye McKenna’s Hedgewitch is a really satisfying book that made this reader lose a day in its worlds. It has the absolute perfect size, and somehow it's really light, lighter than you'd expect, the spine flops the pages open beautifully; there's no effort involved at all, and the pages themselves are a beautiful cream colour and ever so slightly textured. It was written in the form of letters, advising two newcomers to the craft on ritual and practice, but unfortunately, as the author was not privy to all the readers beliefs (obv. Beth gets most of the history of hedgecraft wrong and the rituals are very complicated and too formal for most hedgewitches. She offers a variety of new and old techniques, including Hallowing the Compass for casting circles, a "roots and branches" meditation that is now my favorite grounding and centering method, treading the mill, how to hedge ride on the physical plane, and even a solo ritual to draw down the moon. It explains about rituals and stresses that you can use your own words though the book suggests words which can be used. In addition, I learned a good deal about modern Wiccan practices and the symbology of the seasons, which I must admit is more fascinating than I had thought.
