About this deal

Mostly I get the "yellow flowers" such as mimosa, one of my favorites in perfumes, ylang-ylang and tuberose that's just absolutely delicious there. I tried this scent today and on the tester paper it was absolutely lovely, a gorgeous full bodied floral, sweet and strong. What people forget is that some of the most famous fragrance houses started then and have sustained famously for decades! She would use the gift set of the same scent she got every Christmas from my dad - shower gel, then lotion, and then the perfume. I'm certain that I've smelt Amarige along with Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant on someone's mother during my childhood in the 90s so it brings comfort and happy memories.

There was something so sweet and addictive in the scent that I kept coming back to sample it over and over. I am aware that I have an older bottle (the front and back have frosted glass), and there are some who say that tester bottles tend to be a little more concentrated, so please take my comments on performance with a grain of salt. Givenchy Amarige perfume is a very complex blend of yellow and white flowers, mouthwatering fruits and sensual woods. So I will use it happily…but not with abandon, since I won’t even need much of it to smell great all day. Out of all the notes listed I get Jasmine,Tuberose, Mimosa, Gardenia and Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood and some peach.

The heart notes bloom at the centre, creating a pure floral with sweet, delicate notes of gardenia, a hint of a bouquet of fresh mimosa, red fruits and the warm, heady flowers of ylang ylang. Very strong the first 15 min then it settles into a smooth, creamy jasmine and gardenia scent that lasts forever.it's smooth it could linger on your skin and anyone passing you would want to just get closer because the scent is just that strong in the most desirable almost mysterious type of way. I’m in my mid twenties but have always had a really strong connection to the 90s and am the youngest of 7 kids, some now turning 40. In theory, this is an absolutely stunning fragrance — lush jasmine, tuberose, gardenia, some faint woods. The white and yellow florals are playing a very strong game of tug-of-war and I am cheering for both teams.

The other day I was going through my perfume bottles that I keep from years gone by, and I had a whiff of it again it was instantly familiar I used to smell like that. While I am immediately put off by most tuberose perfumes, this one like others of its era were nuanced and complex with many notes which gave it more depth than like MJ turberose scents of today. The heart is beautiful, joyful bouquet of flowers, such as tuberose, volumptuous mimosa, ylang ylang, jasmine, gardenia, orchid, rose and unusually aromatic carnation. PPS: Because it’s so synthetic and huge, Amarige is not one to smell close up on your wrists for the first time. Overall, I would say this is a good replacement for the original formula as the difference between this and the vintage are not very apparent after dry down. I will share the notes I can pick up: brazilian rosewood (I'm acquainted with this because of an Elizabeth Arden fragrance I'll insert when I remember it), mimosa (so lovely and darling), ylang ylang + sandalwood (the combined effect is very powdery), unmistakable spicy carnation and orange blossoms. Also Amarige reminds me of morning dew, a field full with flowers blooming in the early morning hours, with raindrops from the day or night before on their petals. Some kind of clash with my body chemistry brings out a heavily emphasised chamomile slightly pee like facet which I really do not enjoy. It is warm, enchanting and beguiling - like it was conceived in the back of a gypsy's wagon transversing the southwestern mountains of America.

This has an almost dryer-sheet quality about it in the beginning, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing! Anyways, her sweat and mine smell the same, so her logic was that it would also smell good on me if it smelled good on her.

I wore pantyhose every day and kitten heels, brick orange lipstick and pin curled my hair every night, I wanted to smell like an old Hollywood movie star! I had it when it first came out as well, and it seems that it has been reformulated, but it does not impact the bouquet in my opinion, but rather the longevity. Beautiful confident scent that although opulent, floral and juicy, dries down on me leaving a very subtle warm, creamy almost almondy coconut hint. Now of course in the end, it matters not what LT and TS have to say because we like what we like, but they missed the boat on this one.
