Another reason we think Flash Point is great for families is because up to 6 people can play it together. The Experienced game adds additional help for the firefighters in the form of Vehicles (Ambulance and Fire Truck) and special abilities for the players (ex: Paramedic, Rescue Specialist, etc. Moments later you don the protective suits that will keep you alive, gather your equipment and rush to the scene of a blazing inferno. Several of these POIs are victims, and you'll need to get them safely outside the house to the ambulance (which can be moved around the house). Thus, there is a strong incentive to not only rescue the victims, but to keep the fire under control by extinguishing flames and removing smoke counters.

It does have good replayability as a family game, though, and the Flash Point expansions add a lot to the base game. You can be a specialist at putting out fires but bad at moving people, or you can be good at using the fire truck but then you probably can’t do well in doors. The sequence of events is designed to create suspense and tension in the game, and it succeeds remarkably well. Sure, you can run to that point of interest and find out if it’s a person, but if the fire spreads to them before your next turn you’ll just end up burning with them.

Thanks to a very successful Kickstarter campaign, the game saw new life as a quality production from Indie Boards and Cards. Several of the roles can't really do much of anything with their abilities that's very "special" a lot of times.
