About this deal

After the closure of Dartmouth Pottery in 2002, the manufacturing of the jugs moved back to its original home of Staffordshire, where Wade Ceramics purchased the jug mould. The 1st August is the start of the hunting season for many types of Deer and Game birds throughout the United Kingdom, so many of our hunters will be busily preparing their hunting attire. The most widely known manufacturer was Dartmouth Pottery and in 2002 when Dartmouth Pottery closed down, Wade Ceramics purchased the gluggle jug mould.

Available in a range of beautiful colours, t he Gluggle Jug, s haped in the style of a koi fish with a mouth-shaped pourer, gets its name from the 'glugging' sound it makes when poured at three-quarters full – it's the result of an air lock created in the fishtail which bubbles out. These British made Gluggle Jugs are the original fish shaped water jugs which when filled produce a ‘glug glug’ sound, which is where the name comes from. While this quirky decanter is the ultimate way to impress guests at dinner, Gluggle Jugs can also be used for decorative purposes, as ornaments for a sideboard or coffee table, or displaying flowers. Gluggle Jugs also known as Glug Glug Jugs are world-renowned and have been fascinating users with its wonderful 'gluggling' sound since it was first produced in the 1860s.
