About this deal

I got my Widi UHost but I might be missing something because none of my USB keyboards will start after connection, the UHost is recognised (updated firmware and USB prot. It's good, but I do prefer mine, particularly because I like the extra half octave, PB and Mod wheels. An uncomplicated, straightforward design, compact size, and easy connectivity made the first-generation KORG microKEY series a bestseller. Painstaking tuning of the Bluetooth capabilities means high stability and low latency, no strings - or wires - attached.

I clarified that UD-BT01 worked this way mostly because someone's earlier post suggested you might need a USB hub with it. Choose between a 25, 37, 49 or 61-key configuration to suit your specific playing style and space/travel requirements. So, if there is a possibility that you may change MIDI instruments (let’s say you own an older digital piano with MIDI In / Out ports but no USB-to-Host and you also own a MIDI controller), then the UD-BT01 is the adapter you should get because it will work with both instruments. One of Korg's best selling range of MIDI controllers the MicroKey series just freed up a whole new generation of musicians, producers and players with a natural feel keybed in a wonderfully compact, robust controller. You can easily connect wirelessly to iPad/iPhone music apps such as KORG Gadget, KORG Module, and GarageBand, as well as any MIDI-capable music production software on your Mac. These discounts are usually communicated through newsletters, which are created and managed by us with the tool "Emarsys". You power it (and the controller) through a small usb power bank, adapter sits in between power bank and controller. So unfortunately, I think for most of these type of controllers……you’re just going to have to stick with wired controllers. To date, the standard way to connect a MIDI keyboard to an iPad has been to create a wired connection between the two. With a slim design, at just over 1/2″ high (16mm) and weighing just 600g it is fully portable, and made for travelers and mobile users. On a related note, I have also read some reviews online that indicate these Bluetooth adapters work with some but not all MIDI keyboards. With an average of one hour of use per day, the batteries allow approximately one month of operation. However, on some of the more complex pieces where there is more note data being broadcast, there are some occasional notes that continue to sound indefinitely.

Note: If you've been using a separate app to connect to Bluetooth MIDI and then using it in Simply Piano, you'll need to connect directly in Simply Piano now with the directions above. My impression is that this is most likely due to some of the “Note Off” messages not reaching the iPad. Because of this and my own experience (which was very good but not perfect), I cannot recommend these Yamaha Bluetooth adapters.

The reason this works with a computer is because the USB port on a computer can provide enough power to run a MIDI controller. By contrast, the UD-BT01 is designed mainly for MIDI controllers that do not have their own power supply.
