About this deal

The tank’s base achieves its rounded shape with two large curved elements, but leaves space on the front for two very subtle missile launchers. Battle Droid conflicts from Star Wars: The Clone Wars with this awesome Armored Assault Tank (AAT) LEGO® building toy for kids (75283). The gun can be elevated and swiveled around 180 degrees, but as I mentioned that probably isn’t realistic to begin with and in the movies I haven’t seen the tanks fire anything but directly forward. Many of the pieces, while not necessarily exclusive to this set, are relatively rare and either appear for the first time at all, have not been available in a long time or only in a handful of sets or are included in more significant numbers than previously in other sets.

His leg and torso printing are exactly the same as the 501st Clone Trooper (corresponding with the TV show, where the 332nd Company Troopers were former 501st Clones. But what got our young clone commander most excited was the 500st clone trooper variant that is decorated with Ashoka’s platoon colours.

As tired as I was of old angry-clone head, it wasn't a bad design, though I like this new version much more. These Clone Troopers were originally part of the 501st Battalion before teaming up with Ahsoka and then turning on her in the Finale of Season 7 of the Clone Wars. Ahsoka comes with two blue lightsabers, just like in Season 7 (interestingly Ahsoka's lightsabers also change throughout the show, and in earlier seasons, she wielded green lightsabers). Season 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars concluded on Disney+ recently, converging the storyline from the long-running animated TV series with the events portrayed in Revenge of the Sith. The set includes 286 pieces with two minifigs (plus two battle droids), and will become available in the US on Sept.

However, as a Clone Wars enthusiast who loves season seven, this is also the only kit containing a member of Ahsoka’s 332 nd company. It is assembled with most of the 286 pieces, with the usual help of a booklet with colour illustrations and clearly structured work steps. In my world figures are nice, but parts that expand my portfolio are better, so let’s have a look at that as well.

Unfortunately, the top canon somewhat ruins this look because it is way too oversized compared to the rest of the set. The first LEGO version of this vehicle was actually released shortly after The Phantom Menace hit cinemas in 1999, in the 2000 wave of Star Wars sets, and the strange, circular front of the tank makes it hard to build out of LEGO without including specific, prefabricated elements. There is a secondary cockpit on the gun turret, with space for a single minifigure and a lifting lid. Worse, still, this section is not accessible from the rear because due to the small size of the model they had to use the space for a double-width window frame that acts as the support for the top section.
