This time with the encouragement of Pastor Pat Nemmers at Saylorville Church I used the Five Day Bible Reading Plan by Lower Lights Publications and read the entire Bible in a year! I asked our Assistant Pastor about the Bible as well and he also doesn’t agree with some of his interpretations. The love that he brings to sinners, the anger he brings for those who are unrepentant and evil, the justice He ultimately promises, it's what we all need and want. Maps, concordance, fundamental doctrines, tables showing Jesus' life, ministry on earth, how Jesus fulfilled with exactness so many of the Old Testament prophesies that He is the promised Messiah, the Saviour of mankind. Virtually every Scripture has a matching study note with detailed information, explanation, and helpful insight.

There were times, when comparing a verse to the NIV, where the NIV was easier to say and/or memorize. This being said I am now concerned that other notes in his bible may not be on point and I am looking for another for him.

Consider this statement: "[The gospel] was an offer of eternal life and forgiveness for repentant sinners. Although several Study Bibles were a big help to me when I first started reading the Bible, I find that I don't use them much anymore unless I have a particular question about a text. The text is black with a blue accent on headings, chapter numbers, verse numbers, reference verse numbers, text quotations in the notes, and charts. The prevailing view of what constitutes saving faith continues to grow broader and more shallow, while the portrayal of Christ in preaching and witnessing becomes fuzzy. The result is a Bible translation that is both beautiful and uncompromising--perfect for serious study, devotional use, and reading aloud.

In more than five decades of ministry from the same pulpit, he has preached verse by verse through the entire New Testament and several key sections of the Old Testament. This belief has been critiqued by Reformed scholars/pastors (and other Dispensationalists like Zane Hodges) as promoting a type of "works salvation. In the end, I splurged on the Spirit of Reformation Bible because it had vastly more notes than any other study bible. I would assume this is because of his Dispensational views that the Old Testament is not for us today, but if anyone knows differently please let us know.
