About this deal

What it is missing, is a hint of bitterness that would balance out the sweetness, just like the alcoholic version has. Not helpful and very arrogant as well as a bit disrespectful to people who have no choice but to drink 0,0% non alcoholic for health reasons, when he can not only drink 0,5% but fully alcoholic beer, wine and spirits as well. Please check the tracking first, as they may provide an explanation but we welcome the opportunity to nip issues in the bud. On the face of it, plenty of large European brands have 0% versions – I don’t know if brands like Bitburger Drive, Becks Blue or Jever Fun make it over to the States, but giving drinkers a ‘sin alcohol’ version is commonplace on the continent.

And then arrogantly, you recommend a 0,5% beer, proving that it is not at all a health concern for you, and not helping at all. I’m a big fan of Hoegaarden, even though it is believed to have been dumbed down from the original recipe, I still like it!

At long last Hoegaarden have made an Alcohol Free version of their classic Belgian Wit beer, it's all very exciting .

Fair enough, Hoegaarden have been owned by AB-InBev (in their various guises) since their money helped Pierre Celis rebuild after a fire in the mid-1980’s, prior to the official takeover. If you’re a fan of cloudy Belgian beers but would like a little less alcohol in your life, this may well be the beer for you. The beer is double fermented and unfiltered; but then the alcohol is removed and fruit juice infused as the final step. Well, I’m going to sit on the fence and score them the same even though they are a little different. And then some regular person who can drink alcoholic beer without any problems comes around and decides to give his opinions. Bitterness up front when we taste, with lots of those roasted grains giving an almost smoky flavour free-beer. The meeting of the shareholders necessitated the announcement, but coming only two weeks after Pierre Celis’s death there’s something of the insensitive about it. It does contain sugar but even so at 90 calories per 330ml can it does offer the dieter an alternative to a "guard lowering" alcoholic drink.

In the US that same segment is less than 1%, so we see an opportunity to fill this gap as health and wellness trends continue to evolve. Additions such as orange peel, aniseed and coriander give white beer that typical sweet and fresh taste.the non-alcoholic brew is already firmly established in Europe (no and low alcohol versions now make up half of Hoegaarden's Belgian retail volumes) and is expanding globally (such as with its launch in India earlier this year).

For me, who used to love hoegaarden, for its summer sweetness, in fact, and since I have not had alcohol for over a decade (so no receptors) , the 0,0% tastes very close to the original hoegaarden. Being outsold by awesome beverages like water and soda, it seems the In-Bev marketing folks wanted to try capturing the non-alcoholic beverage market.
