About this deal

It’s an entertaining blend of Unstable Unicorns’ set collection and ‘take that’ elements, with some RPG style dice rolling and monster bashing thrown in. Monsters have various pre-conditions that need to be met before you can fight them, such as requiring a certain type of hero(s) in your party. You can’t really plan ahead because, at any moment, a failed die roll or unexpected card from an opponent could derail your plans. There’s no pressure of course, but every penny helps to keep this site running, as I earn no income from my writing here (though I may earn small fees from affiliate links posted on my pages). The version I have is the Kickstarter Exclusive version which does have some extras you won’t get in the base game.

Whether you enjoy fighters, bards, wizards, or thieves, you'll find a party leader that's right for your play style - but choose wisely, because you only get one party leader for the whole game! From the creators of Unstable Unicorns, this brutal and adorable game takes 30-60 minutes to play and is for 2-6 players (recommended for ages 10+). Players have the ability to play item cards which can either boost their own party or curse other party players giving them a negative effect, on top of this there are also modifier cards which give a positive or negative value to players roll if they had just successfully rolled to defeat a monster this card can be played to tip the odds in your favour and stop them from taking the win! That said, given the choice, I’d opt to play the slightly more involved and more open Here to Slay, if only because it does give you an awful lot of options and control over what you do in each turn. It’s one of my go-to casual games and a great option when my wife and I want to have fun with a board game that doesn’t require too much time or brain power. The aim of Here to Slay is to collect a set of 6 different hero classes which already in (one of each available in the base game) OR to defeat 3 of the monsters in a shared central row.

Warrior foxes come with some powerful effects (Critical Fang gives you +4 when attacking a monster, for example). There definitely aren’t as many games that include so many players successfully, so hats off to Unstable Unicorns. In this game, you can keep a modifier card up your sleeve (or, well, in your hand) to make sure the odds always tip in your favor. Fighting monsters, playing item cards to help, and ultimately, betraying your friends to climb to the top and claim victory. It’s refreshing to have more options on the table and each strategy tends to be pretty viable at most points of the game.

Like the neigh, sometimes success is simply about running your opponents out of their modifiers by continuing to attempt skill rolls, or rolling a number so high that their modifier cards won’t help. You may find cards / sets you and your friends enjoy playing with and stick with it as there are now ( since the games original release ) a plethora of additional cards choose from. However, I’d be truly grateful for any support that you could offer – and it’s easy to do so at either of these links: Ko-Fi. This is the funniest part of the game, screwing over your friends and stopping them from winning the game. Although it doesn’t seem like much, it really does improve the ratio of heroes to non-hero cards in the deck.
