About this deal

It took me a little while to get into ‘Heartcross Castle’ as the story started differently to what I had been expecting and some of the subject matter wasn’t exactly easy to read. Even though this was part of a series it read as a stand alone book and I could easily pick up on the main characters in this book. Grace is a character who is battered and bruised from her experiences but I found she pushed how she was feeling aside and always focused on the wellbeing of her children. Continuing with my NetGalley reads, this one just happens to have been published in December but doesn’t have a Christmas or wintry theme – however it is a good read that has pulled me into the world of quite a long series!

I don't know how Christie Barlow keeps doing it, but she seems to be growing from strength to strength with each book in this Love Heart Lane series. Although their are some emotional subjects included in this book such as financial issues, physical and emotional abuse, trauma mutism, surrogacy and miscarriages amongst other things. There are family secrets to be uncovered, friendships be renewed and maybe, a possibility of romance could be on the horizon too. Without doubt Love Heart Lane is my favourite ever series, with not a dud book in sight instead each story just gets better and better and my love for the characters, the plot and the setting only ever increases.Nervous about how the people she left behind will react Grace arrives back in Heartcross and soon realises it’s the least of her worries as she discovers her once luxurious home has seen better days. We also share information about your use of our site with our social media, advertising and analytics partners. Heartcross sounds like an idyllic place to visit, from the Scottish countryside to life in a small village.

To discover the answers and lots more besides I have no hesitation at all in recommending Heartcross Castle. I felt as though I was part of the story and at the heart of the action which is all thanks to Christie’s very vivid and realistic storytelling. But will the castle will prove a valuable lifeline for her and the boys now when they need it the most?Christie does touch on a difficult subject but she deals with it in a sensitive and compassionate way. Christie Barlow is a new author to me and apart from using Grace's name, she also mentions a few of my online pals in her acknowledgements, including Meena Kumari. Thankfully Christie Barlow is keeping her readers happy by publishing two books a year in the brilliant Love Heart Lane series because quite frankly I really can’t get enough of these books. I loved how the community pulled together and Grace’s feisty sparring with Andrew, the entitled TV chef who is also saving her bacon by renting the servants’ quarters of the castle.

Heartcross Castle’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Christie Barlow. Andrew Glossop is an equally great character, someone from an incredibly privileged background but with a less than ideal family life, proving that money isn’t always everything.

Christie loves to hear from her readers and you can get in touch via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
