About this deal

Here she has bitten off some pretty big chunks - missing Wordsworth letters and possibly a poem that might tell the story of mutineer Fletcher Christian who came from the same part of the world and was connected to Wordsworth; the discovery of a body in a bog who may or may not be Fletcher Christian; three (or is it 4? She was a journalist for sixteen years, spending the last three years as Northern Bureau Chief of a national Sunday tabloid. Primarily tattoos in a realistic black and grey style, color realism and large scale neo traditional are also welcomed.

Her novels have won international acclaim and a number of prestigious awards, including the Gold Dagger for best crime novel of the year, the Anthony Award for best novel, and the Los Angeles Times Book of the Year Award. A week after the night she chases but fails to catch a mysterious trespasser outside her town house, some unknown party texts Tempe four images of a corpse that looks as if it’s been chewed by wild hogs, because it has been. This superb novel should make Gold Dagger-nominee McDermid's reputation and bring her new readers in droves. Jane is a dedicated Wordsworth scholar who grew up in England's lovely Lake District where the poet also lived. And with my interest in history and archaeology, I found the passages regarding the bog body, affectionately nicknamed “Pirate Peat” in the book by the forensic pathologist studying him, fascinating. Even if you stretch the bounds of credibility for artistic licence, he's arresting people on evidence so paper thin you could make a kite out of it. Hay muchos capítulos intermedios en los que no pasa casi nada y en los últimos podríamos decir que se concentra toda la historia.

When torrential summer rains uncover a bizarrely tattooed body on a hillside in England’s Lake District, locals are convinced it is the corpse of Fletcher Christian, infamous mutineer on the Bounty. This sets up an improbable subplot involving a teenage girl that Jane has befriended and, after witnessing the murder of her aunt’s boyfriend, follows Jane to Lakeland to avoid the police. McDermid provides enough violence to add real urgency to her intriguing premise…the novel’s scholarship is exciting on it’s own terms and entirely appropriate for a district so wildly beautiful that it attracts both poets and pirates. On approximately 500 of those pages, there is some reference to Jane Gresham looking for a manuscript. Although the book started with the weather (a pet peeve of mine), the weather was vital to the plot. Jane Gresham, a Wordsworth scholar, finds some evidence that suggests the existence of the manuscript and she sets out to hunt it down.
