Gorillaz is a virtual band founded in 1998 by Damon Albarn from Blur and comic-book artist Jamie Hewlett. Albarn has used dour monologues before, previously using Ken Livingstone ('Ernold Same' on 'The Great Escape'). Originally named 'Gorilla', the band underwent some changes before settling on their current lineup. Originally released in 1973, The Dark Side Of The Moon became Pink Floyd's first number one album in the USA, remaining on the chart for 741 weeks between 1973 and 1988.
