About this deal

Mostly used by professional tradespeople or DIY enthusiasts, scribers can be used in a wide range of industries, from woodwork and carpentry, to machining and engineering, even domestic DIY. This means scribers are not always the best tool for marking out an area of the workpiece that will be visible in the finished part.

They are hardy for their size and are usually made from metals like aluminium and steel alloy with a tip made from tungsten carbide or another hard material like diamond. Carpenters’ scribes will often mark the workpiece with a pencil line instead of a metal pointed tip.Ink can also be added to enhance the marking line and they are much safer to use than bulkier tools like knives. We started exhibiting at model engineering exhibitions in 1994 and realised from the shows that people wanted quite specialised tooling for their machines and also a wide range of tooling which they could adapt to suit their needs. Engineer's scriber - Features a harder, sharper edge for marking metals and hard materials such as steel. They can also be used with various hand tools and are used to mark out the areas to be measured or cut etc. Machine Mart Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, register number 703528 and acts as a credit broker and not a lender.

However for more everyday domestic marking a scriber might be less useful due to the mark being difficult to remove one made.REPLACEABLE CARBIDE TIPPED SCRIBER RDGTOOLS-ENGINEERS-REPLACEABLE-CARBIDE-TIPPED-SCRIBER-MAGNETIC-ENGINEERING-TOOL STEEL CONSTRUCTION 145MM LONG SIMPLY PUSH DOWN MECHANISM TO RELEASE . Lead times are shown on the product and trolley pages and are always advertised in working days (Monday to Friday). This also means it’s very important when using a scriber to make sure your measurements are correct before you scribe the workpiece. Engineer’s scribers look similar to pens, whereas a carpenter’s scribe can take many different forms. They are most commonly used to mark out metal work pieces due to their advantages over other marking methods on this type of material.
