About this deal

but I did realise whilst reading this I have been relying on hyper-anxiety to get me where I need to be, usually 2 hours early, and that is not healthy. I’m glad to be bringing Dirty Laundry —and its follow-up—to more readers and retailers worldwide and releasing a brand-new audio edition for added accessibility. Dirty Laundry Unveiled" is a transformative book that delves into the deep-rooted shame experienced by adults with ADHD and offers practical guidance to foster understanding and support. However, as a prescription for other people makes me cringe and worry about the long-term feasibility.

Richard's sections have this habit of referring to the person in question with ADHD as "your ADHD-er", which just as easily could be replaced with "your labrador" or "your jack russel terrier" with regards to how someone with ADHD views the world and behaves.

We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. The tone of the book is that it happens to all ADHDers but I think these issues are more unique to Rox, but what annoyed me is that they talk about it like we are all likely to suffer from it. This is not a medical journal or a work of literary genius – but it’s a really accessible insight into a couple where one has ADHD and one is neuro typical. It has genuinely helpful advice from the perspective of someone with adhd and someone living with someone with adhd.

I know the shame that living undiagnosed can bring, and I know the absolute relief of watching a 30-second video on TikTok and being able to breathe for the first time in 30 years, because Oh my god, it isn’t just me. I had a hard time relating to many of the things mentioned and it really made me second guess my diagnosis. As a woman (late diagnosed) with ADHD I felt so seen and validated in my struggles through Rox’s sharing.

Learn how to: • Stop believing you are fundamentally broken • Stop judging yourself by the standards of a neurotypical world • Communicate your struggles to those who love you • Support someone with ADHD in ways that work for them • Be compassionate rather than judgemental . The same shame I had felt for my entire life, until I received an ADHD diagnosis at age 36 and, soon afterward, became part of an incredible internet community of people just like me. If you already know anything about ADHD you are unlikely to learn anything from this lightweight work. Every chapter starts with a common symptom of ADHD, like impulsivity or struggles with finances, and an earnest moment from their own lives to show you how they navigate the symptom together.

I never thought about the possibility that maybe the meds only “fix” a portion of my symptoms and not ALL of them and that I may not actually be a sh*t human!

I did cry for at least 8/10 of the chapters- it is so hard for me to explain that shame you are so good at explaining. However, an issue I have is that she got sober towards the end of 2018, got diagnosed with ADHD soon after, and then had over a year of celibacy to work on her love addiction / relationship issues. These are funny, true, and sometimes unexpectedly touching, and the book brings all of this to the table.I relate to some, but not all, of whats said, but all of it makes me go YES - EXACTLY or gives me flashbacks to my childhood and having my ADHD misunderstood because non of us knew I had it. As a neurospicy woman married to a diagnosed ADHD man I’ve been hyper focusing on helping him overcome his shame and anxiety. I’m not saying either of us is the next Ricky Gervais (although if you saw the pyjama-clad dance moves she pulls before bed, you might start to believe it), but on the whole we create light-hearted moments from our life and share them on the internet.
