About this deal

I love the movie Julie and Julia, and I want to point out that the movie is based on TWO books (or so says the subtitle of the movie). From the bustling streets of Rome to the colossal grandeur of the Colosseum, the production design and cinematography captivate, capturing the very essence of Ancient Rome in all its grandeur. I totally agree about “Room with a View” — I love the book as well, but I doubt it would have caught my attention as much if I hadn’t already had the images from the movie in my head.

takes no responsibility for the content or accuracy of the above news articles, Tweets, or blog posts. Therefore, if the plot is not essential to you and you value more the visuals and atmosphere of Ancient Rome, “Pompeii” may well become your film for the evening. This may seem like a strange pick to anyone who expected something else from a film about Elvis — perhaps a more critical perspective on his debt to African American music, his young bride, or his drug addiction. Letts’s brilliant script magnificently captures how long-simmering resentments and decades’ old slights are perpetually on simmer in a family like this, and the director John Wells smoothly orchestrates a cast that includes Chris Cooper, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliette Lewis, Margo Martindale, Ewan McGregor, Dermot Mulroney and Sam Shepard. People say it sucks but people also say a lot of these movies suck, and so far there's only one I hate.

But the more I’ve thought about it, the more I think it probably wouldn’t have changed much by reading the book first. The third highest grossing Star Wars film was nominated for Best Visual Effects at the Academy Awards.

This is not surprising because there are only a few other places in the world that offer such a wide range of contrasts in landscape and nature as New Zealand.

The comedy is cringeworthy at times, but the reworking of the Henry character changes the tone of the story in a good way. While "Centurion" is also a historical fiction, it draws inspiration from the Roman Empire's campaigns in Britain and the resistance of the Pictish tribes. The heartwarming movie is the perfect choice to kick off a binge session, and there are several other similar movies that should definitely be added to fans' lists of what to watch next. The space opera film, the first of the Star Wars standalone movies, was about a group of unlikely heroes who come together to steal the plans to the Death Star, a weapon for mass destruction.I think the ways she works in 9/11 and living in NYC and marital issues is complex and interesting, even if Julie isn’t super-likable. Jonah Nolan did knock up a revised script in those three months but the ticking clock did 'Terminator Salvation’ no favours. I finally read North and South after seeing the BBC version several times, and have to admit I enjoyed the movie more. As far as movies that I loved the adaptations from books (although I don’t think it’s better – I love both) is Cold Comfort Farm.

Interesting 🙂 I wrote a blog post recently about whther it’S better to read the book first and wathc the film later, or the other way round. On the other hand, the book is just OK because the story is more disjointed and the characters aren’t as dimensional. Maisel, about a woman (Rachel Brosnahan) embarking on a standup comedy career in the 1950s, doesn’t start until December, so now is a very good time to watch the first two seasons. But others saw their own story in the struggle and felt seen by the idea that the absence of love feels like a black hole, the possibility of its resurrection a galactic improbability. So many great examples have already been discussed, but I want to add The Firm and The Pelican Brief, two good, suspenseful Grisham novels that are VERY FUN movies to watch (The Firm, in particular, has so many great actors playing minor roles, from Holly Hunter to Ed Harris to David Strathairn). We follow his transformation from a wealthy prince to a humbled slave, ultimately rising as a chariot racing champion to seek retribution against his former friend and newfound nemesis, Messala. After all, this was a movie where ice sinks in water and Channing Tatum tries to beat up a hologram. I haven’t read all of the comments (by far… I only glanced at a few), but I want to add some thoughts. The film explores his descent into madness and depravity as he wields absolute power in Ancient Rome. It’s an action epic — packed with lightning-paced set pieces, death-defying stunts and bone-crunching fights — that just so happens to concern a real hero.
