There are three separated stories in this movie tie-in edition of the book: Nurse Matilda, Nurse Matilda Goes To Town and Nurse Matilda Goes To Hospital. Young children would probably still enjoy many of these silly stories as a read-aloud, but as an adult they quickly grow tiresome and repetitive.Christianna had many jobs until finally in 1941 her first crime novel Death in High Heels was published, which was followed by successful crime novels and historical romance as well as children's books. I was worried that they would be too sugary and all the same, like the Mary Poppins books which I stopped reading after about the third one. It was to hilarious to read about all the trouble the children could get into, and through it all they are still good-hearted kids, no matter what sort of crazy shenanigans they get themselves into. To make matters worse, her estranged sister sends her two very rich, very spoilt children to live on the farm to escape the bombs in London, but they are immediately at loggerheads with their rather wild country cousins.
