About this deal

It comes in a different packaging to the original Special Edition release and also ditches the DualDisc and instead has two seperate discs for CD2 and the Videos (which now comes on a DVD). With my present musical knowledge and tastes, which are certainly greater than the ones of yesterday but lower than the ones of tomorrow, I can honestly say this is the best 'Best Of' compilation I own and have heard so far. Best version of the Massive Attack's collected, in a deluxe digipack with a beautiful booklet that contains a litle of each massive's albuns art made by names like Nick Knight, also contain a full collection of videos more complete that Massive's eleven promos, in this are more 5 videos (special cases, butterfly caught, live with me, live with me - alternative version and false flags). A bonus disc of rarities rescues the crushingly claustrophobic electro-dub Mos Def collaboration "I Against I" from the Blade 2 soundtrack, but it's mostly given over to gloppy, dismal background fare, making it difficult to understand why it's here at all. The material on this site may not be reproduced, distributed, transmitted, cached or otherwise used, except with the prior written permission of Condé Nast.

In this respect, this Gift Pack Edition is a downgrade from the original Special Edition which came with a more complete video package, even though some may find the DVD preferable to the DualDisc format. Je me suis dit que la meilleure façon de me faire une idée de ce groupe, était d'acheter une sorte de "pot pourri" de l'ensemble de leur production, incluant le morceau figurant dans HUSH. I slid on my Walkman and tried not to move until the whole thing was over, but then something amazing happened. Shoehorned into one of those two-engine propeller planes, surrounded by screaming kids, snow starting to fall, warnings of turbulence crackling over the loudspeakers, nothing looked good.Or, justement, c'est en visionnant un petit thriller "hush, en route vers l'enfer" (pas mal aussi), que j'ai entendu la première chanson du générique de fin, interprétée par MASSIVE ATTACK. The group has only released four proper albums over the past 15 years: one absolute must-have masterpiece, two excellent long-players of languidly existential mood-music, and one total piece of shit.

Robert Del Naja sings on tracks 1, 4, and 7, plays keyboards on tracks 3, 5, and 7, and scratches on track 1. The CD layer features rare material, while the DVD layer comprises all the band's music videos to date. En farfouillant par ci par là, j'ai cru comprendre que ce groupe figurait aussi dans d'autres films. Massive Attack's music brings back memories: not that crazy weekend you piled into a van and drove down to New Orleans for New Year's Eve, but those quiet and isolated instants, images that stuck in your mind for no reason, moments when your life started to feel like a movie. And finally, coming with the first CD there is a bonus CD of good previously-unreleased tracks (which I haven't spent much time on), the DVD of promo videos (which, like the CD side, I didn't spin too often yet), and a nice picture booklet.

Mit "Collected" wird hier ein "Best-of-Album" präsentiert, welches uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen ist. If a kick-ass collection like this is what it takes for this heady group to keep the record execs happy while they slowly hone a new album, so be it. The cd of b-sides is fantastic cos contain rare materials previously unreleased like the songs silent spring, black melt and the beautiful joy luck club.
