I was particularly struck by the way Bill Sienkiewicz portrayed him in the panels, and later having a friend develop Schizophrenia helped to hammer home the heartbreak I would eventually associate with David. I was a bit taken aback at first by the inclusion of a relatively minor Age of Apocalypse character like Kate Pryde at first, but it cannot be underestimated how important it is to the display factor to have both characters that should be displayed together (like Colossus and Shadowcat, Sabretooth and Wild Child, etc. You get some minor paint changes to the boots and gauntlets, his undies are now left red, and the addition of some shoulder pads, but that’s about it from the neck down. It still has the bolted neck ring, but that’s been reworked a bit, and this cape doesn’t hover over the shoulders like it did on the previous figure. This is actually hard to tell though, so might be wrong because some of the details and angles look a bit softer here.
As a countless source of steel testicle jokes (and variations thereof), he was a constant muse for my friends and me. I’m tackling this wave in pairs, so I can get through it a bit faster, and that brings us to Iceman and Legion! Both the Colossus and Juggernaut figures come with 2 alternate hands, allowing fans to create dynamic poses and imagine the Super Heroes battling one another or teaming up to defeat a common enemy.X-Men certainly has its share of memorable and sympathetic characters, but I developed a particular connection with Legion over the years. Magneto arrives sharing most of the body used for the Earth 616 Magneto packed in with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, and that’s to be expected. There are no surprises in the articulation, although he does lack the swivels in the lower legs that we often see in the modern Legends line.
But that having been said, he’s a great representation of the character’s look in the comic and a fine addition to my growing Age of Apocalypse shelf! I have heard tell that there have been some joint quality issues with this figure as well, I don’t have that here, but it is something to be mindful of as well. Since we’ve seen this body many times, there are no real surprises when it comes to articulation, so I won’t run through it all. While the honorable, gentle giant that is Colossus is among the most beloved X-Men of all-time, the hardened Piotr Rasputin is selfish and cowardly in the Age of Apocalypse, where he abandons all of his young students to die so that he and his wife and sister can escape alive. I am going to try to check in again this weekend with Sabretooth and then double up the rest of the reviews for this assortment, so we’ll see how that goes!These highly articulated Marvel Legends Series figures feature intricate character detailing, making them excellent for both play and display. I was profoundly disappointed that Legion wasn’t included in the first Age of Apocalypse Wave, considering he is the reason for the season so to speak. It goes without saying, that I was a huge fan of the first Age of Apocalypse wave, and I was surprised to see Hasbro serve up a second so quickly. The left shoulder pad armor is also an add-on tucked in place by this piece, and looks terrific covered in a multitude of painted, sculpted studs. It’s not that the regular Iceman release was a bad figure, but I just appreciate how Hasbro went all out to make this one so distinctive. With the Marvel Legends Series, fan favorite Marvel Comic Universe and Marvel Cinematic Universe characters are designed with premium detail and articulation for posing and display in collections.He's so good I've bought a number of other 80th anniversary figures like Thor, Iron Man and the Walmart Captain America. This set is hitting now, so I would definitely recommend picking it up as soon as you see it, it’s the goods!
