About this deal

I was a boot fitter for a good few years, and I'm also a very heavy hiker (bushwhacks, acidic marsh water, etc. I have plumped for the green type that are allegedly used by the military - mind you they all claim to be used by the military so go figure. I have an expensive pair of Zamberlan boots in my closet that gave me blisters and a black toenail before I gave them up and switched to hiking shoes (low top, like tennis shoes with better tread) and I have never regretted it. Neither of these are waterproof though, but you would be able to waterproof them yourself with a spray protectant. Otherwise its either a light weight "feet wet, water in water out" shoe, or for dry feet quality leather boots.

A retired firefighter and first responder, Bob was also an EMT, and the job required he be outdoors in all sorts of nasty, cold Minnesota weather. My partner and I have lashed out and bought lovely Zamberlan lightweight hiking boots for our August JMT hike but I'm worried that the Goretex lining material is not firmly attached to the leather outside of the shoe and is already sagging and wrinkling in places. If the conditions are such that wet feet are likely to be a danger then it's likely to be cold enough to need a decent supportive boot anyway - which means leather in my book, and that should be plenty waterproof enough to deal with such liquid water as you are likely to find. petrol 230ps with running boards, Blackvue DR750S-2CH, Maxton design front splitter and rear spoiler extension, TPMS, Heads up display, Swivelling Tow Bar, fully lined boot for protection from the hounds! Hot and fast is hard on the boots and if you fall asleep by the campfire, you might end up with a boot bar-b-que.And by reducing the layers you can create space for including inserts such as rock plates for gnarly paths, or impact absorbing insoles for road walking. While a little bit heavier than I prefer on my everyday shoes, when it’s snowy, icy, and frigid outside I really appreciate it. While these are not sufficient to keep me outside for long during the harsh Midwest winters, I wear mine frequently for short jaunts and feel like I’m in slippers the whole time.

The outsole is grippy so you’re not sliding everywhere, and the waterproof upper means your feet stay dry.

To be as close to a barefoot winter boot as possible, use them with the felted wool insole instead of the supportive insole (boots ship with both). if the botos is saturated, then capillary action will draw moisture down to your foot, through the big hole, but that happen on leather boots, as well as GTX boots. The Tracker Snow is the best option for winter, but we’ve had a great experience using the Tracker FG as well. Be Lenka’s best boots for winter are on their DeepGrip outsole (learn about their different outsoles here).
