About this deal

At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. But these are very minor criticisms and anyone wanting to learn what it was really like to fly a Spitfire during WWII will not need to look any further than this book. I don't tend to bother with audiobook reviews but not to make the effort after listening to this superb story just seemed wrong.

This was "FIRST LIGHT: The Story of the Boy Who Became a Man in the War-Torn Skies Above Britain", which became a best-seller. From high quality leather wallets to stylish socks, and captivating books to golf accessories, there are plenty of options to spoil dad on June 18. Regardless of whether or not you have an interest in WWII itself, or the life of a fighter pilot, this is one of the greatest human stories you will read. There was a story doing the rounds that one of the local chaps started to tell me, that someone had told him and so on. He politely declined, mentioning that at his age, he was finding the travelling difficult and that he was very busy with engagements, but noting that he was glad I was flying a “real aeroplane” and wished me luck with it.I've had a distant fascination with Spitfires for 10-ish years now, so imagine my excitement when I was reading the detailed accounts of flying one.

I bought him his favourite drink, a Rum and Shrubs, left it in his place and wrote him a little note tucked underneath.
