About this deal

I haven't watched Stand By Me in probably over 15years, it was probably around the same time I read this book for the first time. It is a fascinating, engrossing read, the one that is well worth several hours of your time, even if you have never been a fan of King. Another story from Different Seasons, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption is referenced in this story; Shawshank is described as one of Maine's state prisons. After a boy disappears and is presumed dead, twelve-year-old Gordie LaChance and his three friends set out to find his body along the railway tracks.

A lot of it is sad (the missing kid who died, the descriptions of the kids' home lives, Gordon's thoughts about death). In high school I found my tribe but I still have fond memories of my preteen "girl gang", even if I'm no longer friends with them.During an argument, Chris pulls the gun on the gang and forces them to leave, but Ace promises reprisals. Though I hadn’t read this in 6, 7 years, the story has remained so fresh in my mind—partly due to the classic film adaptation, and partly because this is simply Stephen King at his very best, showing off all his skills.

King's novel eminates the life of small-town kids out of the 90s and evokes the compelling nature of those among us who were forced outside to play and make up our own fun - usually in the form of questionable adventure. Ace'd become overweight and looked somewhat haggard, having shed his tough-guy persona years before. Many of his titles are the basis for major motion pictures including IT, Stand By Me (adapted from The Body) and The Shawshank Redemption, which is IMDb's top-rated movie of all time. I'm not even embarrassed to admit that I've rewatched Rob Reiner's version multiple times (I kind of lost count at this point) and that my heart aches terribly every time I see Chris and Gordie interact (come on, they're Byler in a different universe, ofc I love them). It does not appear that the constable is same Sheriff George Bannerman who appears in Cujo and The Dead Zone. His crime thrillers featuring Holly Gibney include Mr Mercedes, winner of the Edgar Award for best novel, and The Outsider, both of which were adapted into successful TV series, as well as Finders Keepers, End of Watch and the title story from If It Bleeds. I highly recommend it to Stephen King fans, like me, who are looking for a story that's a little different, a lot lighter, and takes you back to the cherished friendships of youth! This is a story of four boys on the brink of adolescence; the last moments of childhood told with occasional almost Bradbury-esque nostalgia but with the rose-tinted glasses mercilessly torn off.

Though I’ve experienced many of his film adaptations (see below), I have yet to indulge in his literary work. già perché non ricordo tutto di quell'età, ma ricordo che stavamo bene, niente e nessuno avrebbe potuto separarci e alla fine ci siamo persi lo stesso. Chris, who became an outstanding high school and college student and was in his second year of law school, is stabbed to death after trying to stop an argument in a fast-food restaurant(With the killer presumably being Jackie Mudgett, the one who pulled the knife in the final confrontation. Another issue I had with this is that it's supposed to deal with the low prospects of the kids but other than the last couple of chapters that sum up what happened to them later in life, there's really only one section that really deals with that concept. I was reminded a lot of IT- not because anything in the book was all that scary, but just because the boys seemed like they were doing a lot of the same things.Subsequently, one of the gang members reports the body as an anonymous tip, and the gang members severely beat all four boys. In a story that seeks to explore the innermost thoughts and feelings of these four, the reader can see that emotions run deep and that the ‘tough guy’ exteriors are only a pre-teen facade. It’s about going on an adventure, and saying swear words when out of your parents’ earshot, and trying a cigarette just so you can say you did, and standing up to bullies, and most of all it’s about friendship. A timeless exploration of the loneliness and isolation of young adulthood, Stephen King’s The Body is an iconic, unforgettable, coming-of-age story.
