About this deal

We would argue about it, and I'd say, "Batman wouldn't do that, he wouldn't torture anybody" and so on.

David Mazzuchelli’s art complimenting the script with a similarly dark and gritty vision of Gotham and it’s inhabitants. Batman uses a signal device to attract a swarm of bats from the Batcave as his only route to escape. Batman: Year One feels, to me, a lot like an old film-noir crime movie from the 50s, as does most of Frank Miller’s work (his Daredevil run, for example). Batman: Year One” is a graphic novel by Frank Miller (from 1987), depicting the origin story of the Dark Knight. Two years before the relaunch, Batman had all-time low sales of 75,000 copies per month; "Year One" sold an average of 193,000 copies an issue, numbers not seen since the early 1970s.

The studio rejected the idea as they wanted a sequel, not a prequel, though Schumacher was able to include very brief events in Batman's past.

His creator-owned crime saga Sin City first hit the page in 1991, and then the silver screen in 2005, with Miller on board as co-director with Robert Rodriguez. For those of you who are big fans of the Christian Bale Batman films, you can definitely see where segments of this book has been adapted to the Batman Begins reboot - and that shows how much quality this graphic novel has. Dust Jackets are not guaranteed and when still present, they will have various degrees of tear and damage.Miller's retelling of Batman's origin is well thought through and the subtlety of Mazzucchelli's art adds dimension and depth to the story. Near fine/very good condition, slight over all wear to book and dustjacket, small scratches to front of dustjacket, top edge of dustjacket spine faded. The artwork by Mazzucchelli--from the Milton Caniff school by way of Alex Toth (-Zorro-) and Doug Wildey (-Jonny Quest-)--may be the best BATMAN has ever had.
