The head locking switch of the Series 8 is again the same as the one found on the aforementioned Braun models, however this time around it’s covered in this very grippy, rubber-like material, making it easy to operate and an ideal thumb rest.

It’s definitely possible to get a really close and fast shave with an electric shaver as well — on this site alone there are a few thousand comments in that sense.I recommend rinsing the razor under the tap and using a bit of liquid soap (check out the cleaning and maintenance section below for more details). At least now I know I’m not the only one getting excited about the prospects of a new electric shaver. However, I think the cassettes for the old Series 7 (like the 790cc) will continue to be available for years. Plus the shaver head on the Series 8 plugs up with fine cuttings very fast and starts shaving poorly.

As mentioned earlier, that is actually the station that’s also shipped with the latest Series 9 and Series 9 Pro and has a fan that dries the shaving head. These include the shaver itself (it just might not be suitable for your facial hair), how often you shave, technique, prep (the skin must be as dry as possible, maybe a pre-shave lotion could help as well). Moreover, I like the Series 8 design and features better than the updated Series 5 and 7 which were released last year.

More of a question, given that the new Series 7’s primary advantage is balance while Series 7’s locking mechanism is shaky and Series 7’s shaving performance is a downgrade from earlier Series 7s, and given that the Series 8 has a superior battery, superior LEDs, a travel lock, and shaves very well indeed, it still isn’t clear why the more expensive yet declining Series 7 is recommended ? Plus I seen some newer Braun cheaper than 790 model Panasonic on the other hand been using the same head on all of it old and new model.

On the back we’ll find the typical Braun slide-out hair trimmer and two metal studs that charge the shaver when placed in the cleaning station. I currently use a Series 9 but when I travel I carry and use Wahl Lifeproof shaver because it is supposedly very rugged and has a 90 minute charge. On the Series 8 the foil icon shows up together with the 5 bars which turn off gradually as you continue using the shaver until there’s none left.The travel lock on the Series 8 can be activated by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds.
